Papal resignation linked to inquiry into 'Vatican gay officials', says paper

A potentially explosive report has linked the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI to the discovery of a network of gay prelates in the Vatican, some of whom – the report said – were being blackmailed by outsiders.

The pope's spokesman declined to confirm or deny the report, which was carried by the Italian daily newspaper La Repubblica.

The paper said the pope had taken the decision on 17 December that he was going to resign – the day he received a dossier compiled by three cardinals delegated to look into the so-called "Vatileaks" affair....

More liberal media attack garbage.

And all the while they lobby for a gay-friendly pope that ain’t gonna happen.

Conservatives and Catholics share an enemy here.

It’s missed by a lot of Christians who only think “ugh” (as appropriate as that may be) ... but “gay” is also a spiritual thing. Satanically spiritual. It’s not a mere physical pleasure pursued in an odd way. I’d say more but I don’t want to gross folks out.

Horse hockey. The whole story is based on unsupported rumors, and anonymous sources. Benedict XVI has been in Rome for over 30 years. I'm sure he knew exactly which priests, or other Vatican employees might be homosexual, so why would any report that mentioned those folks be shocking enough to cause him to resign?

Reports I've read say he started thinking of resigning after his trip last year to Mexico. He has been looking more ill in each picture since then. As he said, the Church needs someone strong to fight for Her, and he is no longer physically up to the battle. He is unselfish enough to stand aside to allow someone else to take up that fight.

Homosexuals infiltrated virtually every major social organization at least since the 60s. The Catholic Church is the largest denomination in the US and hence will have the most problems. It is also their most dangerous enemy. Like the BoyScouts they did what the lawyers told them to do which was wrong from a religious- moral stance.

Homosexuals need to molest young boys, that's how homosexuals are created.

With the help of the willing msm they hope to turn the RCC into obama's ucc.

Would not surprise me if there were a gay cabal in the Vatican. They are found everywhere these days, as communists once were. The Vatican is a center of opposition they wish to undermine as they do any traditional institution that threatens their sense of worth.

HiTech: "I'd say more but I don’t want to gross folks out."

Don't tell me you're one of those bitter clinging haters! Sodomy is entirely normal, natural, and just good, clean fun. You're probably heterosexual (not that there's anything wrong with that, but heterosexual sex is soooo mundane). Haven't you heard? Homosexuals are more evolved. They're smarter, wiser, and certainly far more flamboyant. What's gross about two people in love? What are you, a prude?

/S!!!!!

(Yeah. That's my super extreme sarcasm tag)

Homos are known for extorting and threatening those who are in the closet, so to speak. Why would it be any different in the Vatican given we know there are out of control gay men recruiting other gay men via the seminaries. They have been raping boys all over the world and all the way of the chain of command, the homo rapists are hidden and protected. You have the pervert actors and then a whole organization who moves them around and protects them because they don’t think it’s really a big deal to rape boys.

Evil flourishes in darkness and lies. The poison goes all the way through the organization, at all levels of power. You know the power homos have when, to even say the truth that it is homo clergy who are raping boys, is forbidden.

Homos want the church to give into sodom all the way. For as long as they resist, they were be threatened with exposure.

It’s a Satanically powered movement. Anywhere that Jesus Christ is named and worshiped in earnest (whatever the actual denomination, the devil doesn’t know from denominations), that’s where the devil tries to get his little foot in the door. It’s plaguing the Roman Catholic church, Orthodox churches, and evangelical churches alike.

The previous pope seemed to think that he needed to carry out his own Gethsemane by pressing on however feeble he got. Whatever the personal virtues of such a spiritual attitude, it did rob the Roman Catholic church of a robust pastoral voice, and though disagreeing with some of that organization’s doctrines, I tend to think the current pope has a “Timothy” in mind to soldier on strongly for the name of the Lord.

Or even good “dirty” fun...

It’s much more than a physical thing. It’s spiritual, in its imaginations usurping the place that the Holy Spirit rightfully has. Otherwise, to look at it as a physical habit only, it might be ranked with things more like smoking than like sorcery.

“. . .The Vatican has insisted that no particular medical condition prompted the Pope’s decision to resign. But the Holy Father himself cited a general decline in strength and energy as the reason for his decision. . .”

This was the first thing I thought when I heard the news, last week, and this was what was widely reported yesterday.

Duh! What is the mystery to those who scream from a complete opposite direction about Boy Scouts and gays and exposure of developing boys and men to vast amounts of pornography?

They don’t research the origins and reactions to the scandal.

If there is naything ot this report, we’d never know it from this piece or anything these anti Catholic, opinion-spewing, ignorant writers.

I don't know if I agree with your characterization of same-sex attraction. It's a temptation that can lead to lust and then sin, but it's not a sin by itself.

I know Christian alcoholics who always seem to have a weakness for alcohol even though they never act on it. The temptation to drink seems to affect them less and less as years go by, a growing process that I've seen take decades, but they still (generally) have twinges from time to time, maybe even years apart.

I suspect the same thing applies to same-sex attraction. In other words, there's nothing wrong with same-sex attraction itself. It's only a sin when one dwells on that temptation and falls into lust (a strong desire to act on the it).

We're not talking about stray thoughts, like noticing someone of the same sex is attractive. I'm talking about actual lust, the strong desire to have sex with that person. One may not even act on the desire at the point, but if they wish they could, they've sinned, like whoever looks at a woman with lust in his heart has already committed adultery.

I've seen people really agonize over impure thoughts. They seem to (incorrectly) think that Christianity means they'll never be tempted. You can't stop stray thoughts, although a well disciplined spiritual mind is better prepared to resist them. If I see I nice car, for example, I can't help admiring it. It only becomes a sin when I (selfishly) wish I could steal or destroy it.

If I've inaccurately interpreted scripture, please explain.

You are correct. And there is the problem with non practicing Catholics as well as those commenting on them and journalists reporting on the Church.

In 1986, then-Cardinal Ratzinger wrote a letter to the bishops entitled “Regarding the Pastoral Care of Homosexual persons”.

I’ve cited it many times, here, never had feedback. There is most likely a great majority of Catholics who not only don’t know about it or what it says, but do not know that such things as letters exist.

People enjoy opining about what rules the Church should follow, ignoring the vast educational and philosophical credentials that are involved in creating these documents, not to mention Biblical and Divine roots of the statements and teachings.

In this letter, the statement boils down to just what you said in your first sentence, which is based, I imagine, on common sense. The temptation and tendency is not the sin. All Church rulings and practices regarding homosexuality revolve around that - before 1986, when a common sense and charitable approach would have been taken, and after the Synod would have found it necessary, with the prevalance of outspokenness of homosexuality - stemming from, I might add, what Paul VI predicted in Humanae Vitae, that illicit sex practices would prevail with the advent of acceptance of birth control, making sex a purely physical entity in the culture, and a dangerous turn against the family, among other destructive effects to society.

Also, the Sixth Commandment is clear on the subject.

Being heterosexual, I’m attracted to women who are not my wife. That’s actually entirely normal. You can’t stop attraction, aka temptation. The same thing applies to a homosexual. They can’t help the temptation, but they do have a choice to not act on it just like I have a choice to stay true to my wife.

The great thing about sex is it’s actually part of God’s plan. He’s even provided physically and spiritually healthy ways to engage in it and intentionally designed it to be pleasurable. Sex can be all He intended it to be if one stays within God’s plan.

I’m not a Catholic, BTW, but I admire the way they’ve stayed strong on many issues, including homosexuality. I also admire their well organized and thought out teachings on many matters. I probably have doctrinal issues with them on some issues, but I certainly see Catholics as my brothers and sisters in Christ.

Malachi Martin had this down two decades ago. Here is a place to start if you’re interested: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Sl07d02tkU or listen to Art Bell’s excellent interviews, then read the book.

Don’t know about a ‘cabal’, but I’m sure there are some homosexuals in the Vatican. I’m also sure that Josef Ratzinger was familiar with some of them, so he wouldn’t have been shocked.

“Depends.”

What one might mean by “same sex attraction” could cover an entire gamut, from what we commonly know as male fellowship and bonding, for the special respect and love that boys have for their normal fathers, to the unnatural thing that tempts to male sexual climaxes outside of marriage however achieved. It’s that last thing which is evil, and a wish to do it is one which is inspired by evil powers that want to find a spiritual home in the fellow who does it. Once done it’s quite addictive due to the pleasure component and it’s easy from that perspective to take the remembered hunger for being filled with a masculine spirit, which itself is quite normal for a fellow, as having been “born gay” (or in rarer cases, fetishist). But, these are not all the cards that can be held by a fellow in this situation. God can deal more cards, and can literally supernaturally fill that hunger. If one is born again, one can then grow again. The experience may not be easy, but God is genuine. And ultimately it is just one of myriads of problems with sin in this world. God can use it, like any other spiritual hunger exacerbated by sin, to bring men closer to Himself, if they will allow it (God will let them refuse).

“The kingdom of God is forcefully advancing, and forceful men take hold of it.”
