A Texas high school student has filed a federal lawsuit against her school and her teachers after she was punished for refusing to salute and recite the Mexican pledge of allegiance.
The Thomas More Law Center filed the suit on behalf of Brenda Brinsdon alleging the McAllen Independent School District violated the 15-year-old girls constitutional rights when she was forced to recite the Mexican pledge and sing the Mexican national anthem.
Brinsdon, who is the daughter of a Mexican immigrant and an American father, refused. She believed it was un-American to pledge a loyalty oath to another country. Ironically, the school district has a policy that prohibits a school from compelling students to recite the American Pledge of Allegiance.
The lawsuit states Brinsdon offered to recite the American pledge in Spanish but the teacher refused her request.

You aren't by yourself, brother.
Don't ever forget it.
do you think they will care?
Even my district uses CSCOPE now, even if thousands call each will be told they were the only ones to complain
I’m so glad the suit is against the teacher as well as the district. Usually those who make the decision pay no price, and the taxpayers are on the hook for their actions.
At first the conquering Mexicans will be a little severe regarding lapses such as the girl in the article. They will lighten up over the next 200 years.
Then there is "Americathon II".
Otherwise knnown as "Idiocracy".
What’s happening in Texas? Ya’ll better stand your ground!
“State Investigation Launched After Students Dress in Burqas”

What the heck is going on in Texas? Just the other day I read about burkas in the classroom.
Exactly. You know we are in a losing war when this kind of thing is happening in Texas, of all places.
This event occurred back in Nov. 2011 and the lawsuit is just now being filed?
It’s called CSCOPE. School districts created it to bypass the standards set by the state and to bypass parents.
publik skoolz are publik skoolz, it don’t matter where they are located
Public schools are little commie indoctrination centers.
I was about to say, the FRTU finally rears its head after a long absence from these threads, but it looks like the Mod zotted his/her/its comment almost before it existed.
Sharp shootin, there, Sheriff. ;^)
Agree. Long ago, one of our daughters was in a similar situation in her high school. We went to the principal, with a complaint written up on legal paper showing our intent to take action as far as necessary. The principal called in the teacher, we went back and forth with arguments. The principal asked us what would help us resolve it, and on the spot admonished the teacher. Our daughter's grades were changed to what we wanted, and the teacher was removed from again ever teaching the class.
Parents can make a difference by being vocal.
If it were me, I’d stand up and recite the AMERICAN pledge, loud enough to be heard over all the others.
Is CSCOPE an acronym? If so, what does it stand for? I have searched a lot and find nothing that would answer that question.
March 16 1836 between 182 and 257 Texians Died to escape Mexican tyranny!
Only to have our youth punished after this event 177 years later!
Where have true Americans gone! Citizens of our Country have no Allegiance to any other! Educators have nothing better to teach our children other than to belittle our Country!
Hey Teach! IF you wanna be a Mexican move there!
School boards are going to have to clarify their basic curricular structure! There is nothing wrong with teaching world culture, but to burden youth with losing Americanism is wrong. This is America, IT will always be America, and It will never be a Mexican or Muslim Country! End of Story!
This won’t end well for these pieces of excrement.
There’s a sleeping giant they better fear will awake. Doing damage to children is the surest way to make that giant wake up very grumpy.
