The Queen James Bible, also known as the Gay Bible, is a new assault on biblical orthodoxy and sexual purity. This is to be expected in a world of moral relativism. In it, the 1769 King James Bible has been reproduced with only a very few select verses altered - the ones that relate to homosexuality. Those verses are listed below and analyzed. I hope you will see that the Queen James Bible is a perversion of the original text and is the result of obvious prejudices against the original Hebrew and Greek texts in order to make homosexual practices appear acceptable.
The interlinear citations are taken from two sources. An interlinear is a listing of the original languages that is reproduced from the most ancient and best manuscripts, with English translations under it. This way, the reader can see for himself what the original says.
Hebrew Interlinear Quotations are from van der Merwe, Christo. The Lexham Hebrew-English Interlinear Bible. Logos Bible Software, 2004.
Greek Interlinear Quotations are from the Aland, B., Aland, K., Black, M., Martini, C. M., Metzger, B. M., & Wikgren, A. (1993, c1979). The Greek New Testament (4th ed.) (410). Federal Republic of Germany: United Bible Societies.
"Most English Bible translations that actively condemn homosexuality have based themselves on the King James Version and have erroneously adapted its words to support their own agenda. We wanted to return to the clean source and start there."1
I'm glad they acknowledge that most translations condemn homosexuality. But, the annonymous editors of the QJV changed the translations, reinterpreted them, and made them say the opposite of what the original languages state. It says on page one of the QJV: "The Queen James Bible is based on The King James Bible, edited to prevent homophobic misinterpretation." Edit they did; translate they did not.
Are they really going to maintain that basically all translators have gotten it wrong throughout the centuries and that they, the annonymous editors2, got it right? It is easy to make assertions while you hid behind anonymity. What are they afraid of if their edits are the right ones?
Let's take a look at the verses that deal with homosexuality but comparing the KJV and the QJV and providing the original text for your examination.

2 Tim 3:1-5
This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. KJV
Genesis 18:20-21
20. Then the LORD said, "The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is so great and their sin so grievous
21. that I will go down and see if what they have done is as bad as the outcry that has reached me. If not, I will know."
Genesis 19:4-7
4. Before they had gone to bed, all the men from every part of the city of Sodom--both young and old--surrounded the house.
5. They called to Lot, "Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them."
6. Lot went outside to meet them and shut the door behind him
7. and said, "No, my friends. Don't do this wicked thing.
Isaiah 3:9 The look on their faces testifies against them; they parade their sin like Sodom; they do not hide it. Woe to them! They have brought disaster upon themselves.
2 Peter 2:13b Their idea of pleasure is to carouse in broad daylight. They are blots and blemishes, reveling in their pleasures while they feast with you.
Ezekiel 16:49-50
49. "`Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy.
50. They were haughty and did detestable things before me. Therefore I did away with them as you have seen.
1. But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them--bringing swift destruction on themselves.
2. Many will follow their shameful ways and will bring the way of truth into disrepute.
3. In their greed these teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping.
4. For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell, putting them into gloomy dungeons to be held for judgment;
5. if he did not spare the ancient world when he brought the flood on its ungodly people, but protected Noah, a preacher of righteousness, and seven others;
6. if he condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah by burning them to ashes, and made them an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly;
7. and if he rescued Lot, a righteous man, who was distressed by the filthy lives of lawless men
8. (for that righteous man, living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul by the lawless deeds he saw and heard)--
9. if this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue godly men from trials and to hold the unrighteous for the day of judgment, while continuing their punishment.
10. This is especially true of those who follow the corrupt desire of the sinful nature and despise authority. Bold and arrogant, these men are not afraid to slander celestial beings;
11. yet even angels, although they are stronger and more powerful, do not bring slanderous accusations against such beings in the presence of the Lord.
12. But these men blaspheme in matters they do not understand. They are like brute beasts, creatures of instinct, born only to be caught and destroyed, and like beasts they too will perish.
13. They will be paid back with harm for the harm they have done. Their idea of pleasure is to carouse in broad daylight. They are blots and blemishes, reveling in their pleasures while they feast with you.
But there IS hope!!!
1 Corinthians 6:9-11
9. Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived:
Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders
10. nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
11. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
If you could NOT change, you would be in most pitiful shape...
It just keeps getting worse every day.
Ping for later
Yea James already was a Queen so calling this whole thing gay is not a stretch.
Dang!
I didn't know this!!
I'm gonna e-mail everone on my list and tell what I just learned from the Internet!!!
In his day he was often called Queen James.
It’s too late for these who have changed God’s Word:
“Ye shall not add unto the word which I commanded you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you. Your eyes have seen what the LORD did because of Baalpeor: for all the men that followed Baalpeor, the LORD thy God hath destroyed them from among you.” (Deuteronomy 4:2,3
Followup Baalpeor and see how it is used as a model for God’s judgement and wrath. Compare with Revelation 22:18,19 where if one adds to or takes from the “words of the boole of this prophecy (the Revelation of Jesus Christ)”, he is subject to the 2nd death (eternal damnation). Some argue that Deuteronomy 4:2,3 carries with it the same eternal damnation, not just the 1st death.
Changing God’s Word is a death sentence. But then again the vile affections of the Sodomites are prima facie evidence of their being given up by God (Romans 1) and damned.
These perverters of God’s word do so at their own extreme peril. They will one day be BEG for the fate of Sodom when God is done with them.
Worse, they're largely in charge in vast regions of government, both state and federal.
And some FReepers dismiss them with a shrug. I don't get it.
Yet a remnant can be saved: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-religion/2986747/posts
The title is certainly an allusion to James’ (alleged) homosexuality.
He was also sneeringly called the “wisest fool in Christendom”. He found out he was being called that and said “yeah..Im ok with that, being the wisest fool in christendom I take as a compliment.”
I don’t know how you can say alleged. He called Buckingham his wife and his letters to his male lovers, two of which he was buried beside, survive.
All you really need to know about the "Queen James Bible" is that it is basically the King James Version with eight verses changed. Now, there's nothing wrong with re-interpreting the Bible (millions of preachers worldwide do it every Sunday), and there's nothing wrong with re-translating it (because language does not stay still), but there has to be an academic justification for the changes made. You can't just alter Biblical text because you happen to personally disagree with certain elements. That is, effectively, a form of censorship (if not blasphemy). As the article adroitly shows the reasoning behind the changes is - very weak, to say the least.
As the only difference is eight verses, an insulting libelous title and a snazzy cross design in Gay colors, the simple truth is that most of the people who will buy this book are only doing so to make a statement on the subject of Homosexuality. In general terms there's nothing much wrong with making statements either, but that is not what the Holy Bible is for. You are meant to read it, ponder on it, and be transformed by the renewing of your mind. And if the translation you are reading has altered the text to your pre-decided notions beforehand, there's not much chance of that happening is there?
