Obama, the US and the Muslim world: the animosity deepens - (Obama is an utter failure)
The Guardian ^ | 2/15/13 | Greenwald

Posted on 03/02/2013 11:17:28 AM PST by machman

In his first inaugural address, Barack Obama announced: "To the Muslim world, we seek a new way forward, based on mutual interest and mutual respect." Improving how the US was perceived among the world's 1.6B Muslims was not about winning an international popularity contest but was deemed as vital to US national security. Even the Pentagon has long recognized that the primary cause of anti-American Terrorism is the "negative attitude" toward the US: obviously, the reason people in that part of the world want to attack the US - as opposed to Peru, South Africa, China - is because they perceive a reason to do so. Obama's most devoted supporters have long hailed his supposedly unique ability to improve America's standing in that part of the world. In his first of what would be many paeans to Obama, Andrew Sullivan wrote back in 2007 that among Obama's countless assets, "first and foremost [is] his face", which would provide "the most effective potential re-branding of the United States since Reagan". Sullivan specifically imagined a "young Pakistani Muslim" seeing Obama as "the new face of America"; instantly, proclaimed Sullivan, "America's soft power has been ratcheted up not a notch, but a logarithm". Obama would be "the crudest but most effective weapon against the demonization of America that fuels Islamist ideology" because it "proves them wrong about what America is in ways no words can". Sullivan made clear why this matters so much: "such a re-branding is not trivial - it's central to an effective war strategy." None of that has happened. In fact, the opposite has taken place: although it seemed impossible to achieve, Obama has presided over an America that, in many respects, is now even more unpopular in the Muslim world than it was under George Bush and Dick Cheney.

In the mind of The Won, this makes him a success.

He views the Muslim world as an ally in his overall goal of the destruction of this country, and with it, ultimately, all of Western Civilization.

It's no surprise that muzzies respect force; they may not like it, but they respect it. While W used drone strikes as a balanced element of prosecuting the WOT, for Obama, drone strikes have become the WOT.

Curiously, I suspect that through muzzie eyes, Predator strikes, nameless, faceless, and anonymous are probably viewed with the same degree of cowardice and contempt that we view random suicide bombings against soft targets.

I'm not saying I agree with that conclusion, but that I can certainly understand how many in the muslim world, heavily propagandized by Al-Jazeera, would arrive at it.

Like your Latin tagline, “Love me, love my dog”. Heard it for many years, it’s a hunter’s saying.

Nowadays it has a neat “infidel” ring to it, IMO.

"Raisuli: I prefer to fight the European armies, but they do not fight as men - they fight as dogs! Men prefer to fight with swords, so they can see each other's eyes! Sometimes, this is not possible. Then, they fight with rifles. The Europeans have guns that fire many times promiscuously and rend the Earth. There is no honor in this - nothing is decided from this. Therefore, I take women and children when it pleases me! "

It's a good thing that Muslims also hate each other.

Bush was up front about his “tough love” approach to Muslin tyrants and terrorist coddlers (you are with us or against us). I think most Muslims respected that.

In contrast, Obama was so kissy-kissy to Muslims from day one in Cairo that he created expectations that he would drop Bush’s pro-reform pressure and strong-arm Israel into surrendering even more strategic land and pull in Americas horns in the WOT.

Borrowing one of Obama’s favorite framing tactics, I support “smart” use of drones to kill US enemies consistent with the rules of war. But Barry has gone promiscuous with the drone killings in a way (based on vague “signatures”) that actually is creating more terrorists than are killed. Tribal Muslims have long memories and their honor demands blood revenge unless they are properly compensated, of course.

Negative attitude because we’re not Islamic. Some people literally can’t sleep at night unless they think everyone loves them. Others (me included) recognize the fact that the world is an imperfect place. Sometimes people will hate you and there is just nothing much you can do about it. As long as they have no real power to hurt you, that is what counts—especially so if you can turn them into a fine paste if they get too cute.

I hate to tell Barry that I don’t seek a new way forward with them except maybe deporting them all to the chithole country they originated from.

It ought to. It's a quote from St. Bernard of Clairvaux who wrote the Rule for the Knights Templar.

Your screen name has a nice infidel ring to it as well ;-)

Parodoxically, the Muslim-loving Obama condescend to Muslims, failing to understand their world-view except in the most superficial way. He forgets, for instance, that before the British ruled India, it was ruled by a Muslim autocrat with scant respect for the Christians and the Hindu majority who were subject to him. The Moghul Empire WAS an empire, one which like the Rome of the Caesars, respected the Indian dynasties so long as they paid tribute. They were not victims, none of them, and the British Raj is not to be faulted if it was able to gain mastery over them, through trade, war and and diplomacy. Furthermore the British left behind a legacy far greater than that of the Shahs and the Majarajahs. The main elements of western civilizations and a largely unified state that is becoming one of the great states of the world. The Muslim legacy, which dominates in Pakistan and Bangladish, is something else entirely.

they will still hate us.

Worse than that, they dispise us for our seeming weakness.
This leads them to make terrible misjudgements.

Technically, they hate us because we are not muslim and we don't bow down in their mosque. They won't kill you as long as you do that and hand over everything they tell you to....then they'll still hate you because Islam is a religion of control and authority. There is no such thing as independence within Islam. Islam IS A STATE disquised as a religion.

The west will do well to remember that the Christian church is the cornerstone of Western Civilization. The philosophy and thought process is completely different.
