Suicide in the age of Obama (reason Americans are increasingly killing themselves)
WND ^ | March 4, 2013 | Joseph Farah

Guns don’t kill people. People kill themselves.

That’s the story from the American Journal of Public Health, which reports that since Barack Obama was sworn in as president in 2009, the leading cause of death in America has been suicide.

During the entire administration of George W. Bush and earlier, motor vehicle crashes were the leading cause of death by injury.

But that all changed in 2009, with the rate of death by suicide rising by 15 percent over the past 10 years, while death by unintentional motor vehicle crash dropped 25 percent during the same period.

What’s the take-away here?

It would be easy to attribute the rise in suicide to the economy, and I have no doubt it’s a contributing factor. But there’s much more to this story than meets the eye.

Hearings are going on right now in Congress on whether to ban new classifications of firearms to prevent gun violence. But far more people are killing themselves than are killing others with guns.

Shouldn’t the government do something about this raging deadly epidemic?

Well, sad to say, the government has been working on the this problem – literally throwing money at it to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars on suicide-prevention programs while the crisis grows.

It’s like Ronald Reagan said, “Government isn’t the solution. Government is the problem.”

Now I don’t mean to make light of a serious subject like the suicide epidemic literally ravaging our country right now. It’s a very real problem. But to think government has a solution is ludicrous.

So what is the solution? A better question is, “What’s the problem?”

It’s not that Americans don’t have enough toys and gadgets, food and shelter, amusements and diversions. While Americans are indeed hurting economically, I suggest the answer is much

Lets go have a guillotine party in DC.
That, would be therapeutic.

Can’t find any takers though.
Seems like a couple million would be willing.
But no.

Doesn’t surprise me at all. My doctor told me that he has had more patients complaining of insomnia, stress etc.. than ever before. I am certainly not saying that suicide is an answer.. what I am saying is that when people lose their jobs, savings, home etc... some are more apt to become clinically depressed/turn to alcohol etc. I guess they feel lost and hopeless. So very sad....

So America is committing “Obamacide,” individually and collectively? A vote for Obama is a vote for the death of America - we tried to tell them. God help us - please!!

Cancel your newspaper subscription and stop watching the news on TV. It’s an endless stream of sad, depressing news, most of which we have no control over except to worry and obsess about. When you consider the content of the average evening newscast, it’s a wonder we don’t see more people offing themselves.

Excellent choice. Although I canceled my home delivery of "NEWS"paper over 10 years ago, I still read the shared one down at my morning coffee shop. Starting this year I decided I just could not read the left's crap anymore, and stopped totally after reading "NEWS"papers since I was 16. I suggest you get all your news on FR which pretty much aggregates all stories on any given day from around the world. Drudge is also a great source, but does not offer "correcting comments" like FR does. The ONLY thing missing with this approach is that I do not get coverage of my local area, unless it makes national news like.

TV has been off for me for about 5 years - cannot stand any of them. Used to watch PBS but now I see the bias in all those shows as well, with the exception of NOVA which is still good afte all these years.

Titus Livius, Roman Historian, Ca. 29 BC-"The Early History of Rome." Penguin Classics-Translated by Aubrey Selincourt;..."I would then have him(the reader)trace the process of our moral declcine, to watch, first, the sinking of the foundations of morality as the old teaching was allowed to lapse, then the rapidly increasing disintegration, then the final collapse of the whole edifice, and the dark dawining of our modern day when we can neither endure our vices nor face the remedies needed to cure them..." "...of late years wealth has made us greedy, and self-indulgence has brought us, through every form of sensual excess, to be, if I may so put it, in love with death both individual and collective..."

Livy was describing the moral state of Rome and that of the Roman of his time. By analogy we the EuroAmerican are in the same moral condition as those old ones. Farah is correct.

May I suggest that people are depressed when they are not free? I used to hear someone almost every day, even multiple times a day say, “It’s a free country, ain’t it?” I cannot remember the last time someone asked that rhetorical question in my presence and I think that is because it is no longer a rhetorical question, anyone who still thinks this is a free country is living in a total fantasy. The simple fact that I have not been arrested or imprisoned or shot by law enforcement does not compensate for my being well aware that I might be arrested, imprisoned or shot for doing something that would have been ignored when I was young. If anyone thinks I am exaggerating they need to wake up and smell the coffee and look around at what is going on in this country. Living in a POLICE STATE is stressful and all of America is now a POLICE STATE.
