Commentary: The NRA’s Love Affair of Guns Goes Black (barf alert)

As organizations go, the National Rifle Association is an absolute phenomenon. It is in a class all by itself when it comes to hyperbole, hypocrisy and absurdity. It is a group that will literally do anything, take any stance and challenge any common-sense position as long as it meets the organization’s goals of placing firearms in the hands of as many gun-purchasers as humanly possible.

When students in an elementary school are massacred by a deranged gunman, the NRA’s solution is straightforward: More guns. Arm as many teachers and school administrators as possible, they propose. When the president of the United States and federal legislators propose stricter oversight over who may purchase guns, the NRA is clear cut in its disposition: No way, they maintain.

Guns, they insist, should be a part of every American’s daily ensemble, more omnipresent than iPhones. And getting them should involve none of the hassle that accompanies getting, say, a driver’s license. For the NRA, guns should be as accessible to the average American as a Kit-Kat bar or a Starbucks cup of coffee.

So desperate is the NRA for gun ownership to permeate all of American society that they have retained Internet star and gun advocate Colion Noir to be featured in a video to appeal to his fellow Black Americans to reject any consideration of gun control.

They are eviserated in the comments. The comments are worth reading. Here is one:

"So which is it - the 20 black panthers where right and should have been able to exercised their rights? or that black folks had no rights to carry guns? I mean, one would think folks would be happy the NRA finally is amending their ways from the racial BS of the 60s right?"

Ah, we have successfully located a new baseline from which all intelligence must be measured.

I’m wondering whether or not these folks should be trusted with anything more complex than a sponge.

massacred by a deranged gunman

Speak about hyperbole...
He was a deranged human being. The method he chose out of dozens available to slaughter other human beings was a gun.

Heh.
For a second, there, I thought this was describing the Democrat party.

Oh wait! It DOES describe the Democrat party!

I conclude the anti-gunners don’t want anyone (including police) showing up with “more guns” to stop the slaughter.

Conn. already has an assault weapons ban. Lot of good that did. And Lanza did not use an “assault weapon”, he used a legal Conn. rifle.

More guns arent needed, just a different distribution. Conn. disarms teachers and admin (or anyone) who could respond effectively with their already owned weapons to stop the killing (+1). The knowledge that someone might shoot these cowards in formerly gun free zones alone would keep more whack jobs at bay. (see Lott/Landis study)

Another Barf Alert:

Donna Leinwand Leger, USA TODAY6:43p.m. EST March 5, 2013
The rhetoric and threat of domestic terrorist plots mirror the mood observed in the six months before the Oklahoma City bombing, the Southern Poverty Law Center says.

Southern Poverty Law Center tracks militias, “patriot” groups
Number rose 7% to 1,360 last year
Fear of more gun restrictions is behind the increase

Radical anti-government “patriot” groups and militias, galvanized against gun control, will continue to grow even as the number of groups operating in the USAreached an all-time high in 2012, a report Tuesday by the Southern Poverty Law Center finds.

These cartoons are nothing new. Back in 1968, gun owners bore the brunt of many a cartoon of the fat man with his double barrel shotgun, and Herblock of the WaPo did constant hit pieces on the NRA which, to me, bordered on libel.

MAD magazine, at that time did a real hit piece on gun ownership and hunting.

Two good pro-gun cartoons of that time were by Bill Mauldin of Willie and Joe fame.

One showed a mob lynching a handgun. A burglar walks away and says...”They let me go and lynched my gun!”

The other showed a HOMEOWNER with a double barreled shotgun confronting a burglar. The burglar says...”Buddy, if that shotgun isn’t registered, you are in more trouble than I am!”

Herblock was one of the worst, being an echo chamber of anything the Left was against.

I remember one magazine ad that showed the crosshairs of a scope on the neck of a man and screaming "Contact your Senator, while you still have one!"

“Dem racis whitey guns bin killin’ black children in the ghettos of Chicago!”

Socialists are the most stupid, racist, brainwashed people on earth. Stupid people are the most aggressive when directed by their handlers at “the enemy.” They would eat off their own legs if their legs were targeted as the enemy of tribal power. See Africa. See Nazi Germany. See Stalin’s Soviet Union.
