Reject Kerry and Hagel and you would end up getting a couple of think tank Leftists who could do a lot more damage - and would be very difficult for the Senate to reject.

Paul and others probably just figured those two buffoons are too vainglorious and stupid to do any long-term damage - better to just confirm them quickly and move on to more important issues. Brennan, however, is a much more dangerous man - and worth fighting to stop.

“And here comes Harry Reid. Trying to get them to set time limits on how much longer they’re going to talk.”
~~~~~~~~~~~
Reid: “We will continue tomorrow.”
...when no one is watching!
The “whisperer”’ Reid shows up, mumbles aloud something; Chambliss tosses it all back to Paul. This is fascinating.
Now Toomey is up. He asks a brief question for Paul to recap his position. Surprised to see Toomey there...he’s gonna have to rush to make dinner w/Barry.
Fwiw, I really respect what Paul is doing. Maybe he voted (and gave deference to Barry’s picks) for Hagel and Kerry to give him the “cred” to do this fibuster.
And so they do. Rand Paul objects. He says he will talk until he gets a clear, definitive answer from the President or the Attorney General stating that they do not have the authority to kill a non-combatant American on American soil.
Holder claimed the administration would decide when the fifth amendment is appropriate.
Reid is up - wanting 90 min. debate 30 min debate 30 debate, blah, blah, blah.
Paul says he would be happy with a vote now - wants the president and/or Holder to clarify that they won’t allow the drone program to not kill Americans who are not involved in combat, otherwise he will continue to object. Reid says he can’t speak for the president....so
Paul objects! and Reid is REJECTED, filibuster continues, Pat Toomey up.
Dingy Harry should thank all those best buy gift cards his campaign staff gave to illegal aliens to vote for him..otherwise he would be asking “Would you like paper or plastic”
Reid is in a rush because he ate too many prunes this morning, he always has that constipated look on his face
Do you still plan to contribute to Rand Paul now that he made clear that he cares about the drone strike issue and not at all about Brennan’s aggressive support of the Islamofascists around the world? Does it bother you that he said he will drop the filibuster as soon as the White House tells him that it will not kill US citizens who are noncombatants on US soil?
As I said on the other thread, this is pure kabuki. I have no faith in Rand Paul.
Pat Toomey - WHen new technology comes into being - the drones - we need to know the rules of using this technology
When it comes to American soil, the staring point should be we’re not going to do that.
Paul - when people tell you American is the battlefield they are telling you your rights don’t apply. It’s incredibly important. We’ve been blaze about this drone strike business. We need to be careful and at a minimum ask can you do this with no due process?
Toomey made good points. Reid is a tool.
I called Toomey’s office awhile ago. I’m glad he spoke up. The starting point for drone strikes in America is NO.
Drone technology IS relatively new, it was really just coming online towards the end of the Bush administration. I shudder when I think of it in the hands of someone like Brennan, who has been accused of running his own operations outside of proper oversight. And under NO circumstances do I want Holder, Napolitano and 0bama deciding when and where these things come to use.
Regarding drone strikes in America - Can you imagine we might get it wrong? - but you’ll never know because drone strikes are on a secret list. DO you not get to explain it in a court of law (about your email to your cousin in the ME) before you get a hellfire missile dropped on your head?....lol
The president says he hasn’t killed anybody yet. Doesn’t INTEND to kill anyone in AMerican, but he might.
Recently he’s made statements that says he thinks he has extra powers (appointments during senate recesses).
Toomey DID ask pertinent questions; I’m still smarting from his vote FOR the F16s (and Muslim Brotherhood) in Egypt. His Pgh office (which I called) could not explain his vote.
Paul’s “Alice in Wonderland” analogy is outstanding. He just said “belonging to the Constitution party” “or being pro life” “or preferring to use cash” have been mentioned as “being a terrorist.”
Powerful
LOLOL - lists some of the criterion that has been published that defines you might be a terrorist - prolifers, people who vote for 3rd party candidates, Constitution party (?), etc.
We have to be careful....the criteria for a drone strike overseas would likely not be acceptable within the US.
Paul suggests Al Alwaki (sp) could have been tried for treason. As far as he knows, his son who was killed a few weeks ago, was never on anyone’s list. The response by ???? was well, “the kid should have chosen a more responsible father.” (or something like that)
John Cornyn up!
I missed it! Left the room when I saw Dingy Harry. This IS powerful stuff being brought up by Sen Paul.
We are living in an "Alice in Wonderland" world with what's going on - and being ACCEPTED BY MOST - these days.
That’s why Ron Paul is doing this filibuster - he’s warning us accepting this in America makes our homeland a battlefield.
Cornyn - Does the president have the power to order a drone strike in America?
