Senator Cruz reading a letter written in the Alamo just before it fell (William Travis, hero, died at the Alamo).

"Freedom or death".

Sen. Cruz is reading this for sustenance to Rand Paul who is going through a draining marathon right now.

Senators Paul and Cruz....what a pair to draw to!

God bless them both. They are saying exactly what I would say as a FR conservative if I had the Senate floor.

Ron Wyden, Dem. from Oregon up now. Says he plans on voting for Brennan. Says he’s pleased he finally got some info on targetted killings of Americans. - says it’s okay to use drones if American has taken up arms against US. Says we deserve to know rules of these targetted killings. Need more info on these rules.

Says Senate Intelligence Committee also feels like more info is needed.

Asks, what are the geographic limitation of the use of lethal authority, especially in the US. Brings up the fact that Brennan says he won’t have the authority in the CIA to use this authority. Moves on to Holder’s letter.

That would be good. Hopefully some of the Senators staff are finding good speeches like you suggested.

Thanks! (I'd give up a lot to have her deliver that to me personally. Don't tell Mrs. Liberty!)

Rand Paul says A lot of the people who have been killed by drones (overseas) don’t look like combattents......sitting in cafes......not bearing arms. Not saying they’re good people, but killing them is not exploiting any info they might have.

Dem from Oregon back up.

I noticed the ? after your recitation of Senator Cruz saying Rand Paul is a native Texan.

Yes, he is...he’s the son of Ron Paul and was born in Texas.

Sometimes we claim Ron Paul, sometimes we don’t (for obvious reasons in both cases).

:)

“Shame” the Dems? Getouddahere! They don’t know the meaning of the word “shame.”

Paul’s just playing the game, of which he’s a very quick study. He wants to extract something from Eric Holder, so he’s holding up Brennan. He’ll toss this overboard the instant Holder makes him happy. He’ll even vote for Brennan’s confirmation. Paul’s a hack.

Posted this on the OTHER live filibuster thread (FYI to all: Other thread hasn't been noted/linked on this thread yet):

Rand Paul is making history today! Will history notice?

He could have read the dictionary, but instead he is requiring of himself to expound on the principles of our Constitution, Bill of Rights, separation of powers, posse comitatus, habeas Corpus, the sloppy bills Congress passes, etc, etc. Now approaching his 4th hour.

By word count, I can’t remember the last time I heard the words “Constitution” and “Republic” repeated so often-— just not repeated, but explained!

The criticism that he repeats himself... thumbs up to Paul! Anyone else care to intelligently filibuster for 4 hours? Moreover, repetition is a well-tested educational device.

Any Senators not joining Paul are being exposed for the self-interested anti-Constitutionalist cowards that they are.

What he is trying to extract from Holder and the adminstration is whether they will respect the constituion and bill of rights.

Aaand, Marco Rubio joins the party now. This is awesome. It looks like it’s snowballing into *the* place to be today if you’re a Senator who wants to be considered a serious person...especially a conservative one.

As this filibuster begins to gain more attention (via talk radio and blogs), and all the others see it as the place to be to get good face time and P.R., I hope more of them step forward. Give us a good look at all of them.

Correct. Don't kill Americans in America using the weapons of war. It's important, but I don't underestimate the ability of Holder and Obama to *lie* to Rand to get his vote.

They lie, and Paul will fall for it.

A hack acts on behalf of someone else or something else at all times, while appearing to be independently motivated. Who is Rand Paul a hack for? What is he a hack for?

I actually disagree with Rand, and am in support of Ted Cruz’s votes against Kerry and against Hagel. But Rand believes that any President deserves great deference in his appointments. Therefore he votes for them because he can’t seem to justify voting against them under that all due deference standard.

I’m with Cruz. Kerry is the last person who should represent the country as its Secretary of State. For personal and for policy reasons. He’s THAT bad. Hagel is totally unqualified for SecDef. He’s THAT bad.

But in Kerry’s case, Cruz was one of only THREE senators who was willing to vote against him.

So I just see a difference of opinion on what the advise and consent roll of the Senate means in these singular instances.

I don’t know who Rand is a hack for? Or what he is a hack for? Therefore, I don’t see him as a hack, at all. And if you’re not up there acting on behalf of a puppet master, then you are not a hack. You could just be mistaken in your views.
