The New GOP Generation Stands Up (RINO's McCain & Graham Dining with Obama During Filibuster)
NY Post ^ | 11:22 PM, March 7, 2013

It’s hard to recall many more wonderful moments on the floor of the United States Senate than the filibuster mounted Wednesday night by Sen. Rand Paul against President Obama’s nominee to the CIA.

The junior senator from Kentucky didn’t even intend to stop the elevation of John Brennan, who had already cleared the Intelligence Committee by a wide margin and was sure to be waved through on the final vote. But Paul did signal that there is a faction in the Senate that comprehends that our country is in a constitutional moment.

This is America 101.

Paul asked the question because he wanted to know the answer. The offender is the Justice Department, which had treated his query in a condescending fashion. Yesterday, it finally answered that no, the president does not have the right to use a “weaponized drone to kill an American not engaged in combat on American soil.” Chalk one up for Sen. Paul.

Equally shocking was the dinner the GOP leadership had with Obama in the middle of the filibuster. While such rising Republican stars as Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz, Mike Lee and a few others were supporting Rand Paul’s filibuster, Graham was dining with the president, Sen. John McCain right there with him. They fetched up on the Senate floor the next day, badmouthing Rand Paul, their fellow Republican.

It was only a few months ago that the GOP was thanking its lucky stars for Ted Cruz, who (with a boost from Sarah Palin) emerged so triumphantly from Texas in a down year for the Republicans. Yet when Cruz gets up on the floor to challenge a president on constitutional grounds, his party’s leadership slinks off to dine with the president.

If “Loony Libertarianism” is the “new GOP”, we are not just doomed, but completely doomed.

Libertarianism is nothing more than an excuse to do nothing and to take no responsibility for anything while hiding behind “liberty”.

I’m not. Reason? Exhibit A is O. the the entire insane clown posse he has in power.

EVEN McCain would not be nearly that bad.

That said, I did wrote to my Senator and asked if he enjoyed his dinner.

I can’t believe there were 12 who allowed themselves to be props for the essobee in chief.

McCain and Graham are lousy Americans.
Let the party division begin and get it over sooner.

If McRINO was in we’d already have socialist crap - supported by republicans who feel obligated to support their POTUS. Largely, the same socialist crap.

Personally, I thought it was both a dumb dinner and a dumb filibuster. That is probably not the majority opinion.

The way I see it, Paul, Cruz and Rubio were working while McCain an Graham et al were partying. There was no way there was going to be anything done at a dinner a public restaurant.

Great.

Another big-government conservative with a knee-jerk hatred of libertarianism.

Ok, I clicked through to read the whole article to find out why you're complaining about “Loony Libertarianism”, but I didn't see the phrase anywhere in the article.

Are you accusing Rand Paul of that, or what? The comment is non-sequitur.
