Whatever his ideological leanings, surely Shakespeare would have raised an eyebrow at the political scene Wednesday, if only for the content it would have stirred in his creative mind. Though Rand Paul spearheaded an epic 13-hour filibuster, he didn’t fill that time alone. Fourteen other Senators total offered him a respite along with comradely, thought-provoking questions, and humor, to boot.
Some comments, or technically questions, were in part to pass the time, but many managed to raise spirits by quoting movies, musicians, famous authors, or regular supporters. Sens. Cruz, Scott, and Flake are all freshmen. Traditionally, their first speech on the Senate floor would have been on something of personal importance, but instead they helped Rand further his filibuster. Since cell phones are banned on the floor, Cruz offered to read series of Tweets so Paul could see what was going on in the outside world — the “Twitterverse” — encouraging Paul (and supporters).
For those counting, there are 45 Republicans in the Senate and only 13 showed up to support a fellow Senator standing firm on an issue that inherently affects the civil liberties of every person in America. While the band of brothers on the floor were in relatively good spirits, yesterday, a couple curmudgeons — Senators John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Lindsay Graham (R-S.C.) — showed short-sightedness by attacking Rand for his filibuster. Holding up a chart, Graham said he was more worried about al Qaeda than about drones because there was no proof the latter had Americans on U.S. soil. If Rand and his band are the Churchills of today, where does that leave McCain and Graham?

Senator Grahamnesty, I would take you slightly seriously if you actually wanted to enforce the border rather than allowing every Tomas, Ricardo and Achmed cross the border and then stay here whenever he felt like it.
I guess this means we have 32 Republican senators to replace.
Remember that one Democrat helped Rand Paul as well.

That is precisely what the "teaparty" has been doing for the last 4 years, it is going to take longer and sometimes we mess up, losing the senate seats in Indiana and Missouri and others in 2010.
Is it better to have a D in Lugar's seat? He was an old bull that all the other old bulls cried about and blamed the teaparty, are we better off not having him there anymore and a D instead?
We are way more effective staying registered R so we can purge out the RINOS in primaries, but it will take a while, lets stick with it, especially if it pisses off Rove, McCain and Gramnesty (he is next).
Yes. Praying we have groups like AFP, Senate Conservatives, Tea Party groups preparing to primary these RINO's with conservatives.

I say yes. This was a Senator who was being fundamentally dishonest about who he was and what powers he represented. The new Democrat may be equally dishonest, but in a state like Indiana he should be a relatively easy target next time. It's unfortunate Mourdock had foot-in-mouth disease, but he did a good deed in removing a very deceptive man from American political life.
