26 bicyclists kick off ride from Newtown to Washington, D.C. for gun control (barf alert!)

NEWTOWN —The right to bear arms does not trump the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Nor does it trump the right for more birthdays for children, the organizer of Team 26 said Saturday morning—a group of cyclists riding from Newtown to Washington to demand “common sense” gun control.

Chris McDonnell, and the other 25 members of Team 26, wore a cycling jersey Saturday that said they rode for Hope, Peace and Love.

McDonnell also rides for the “love and light” of his family, his daughter Grace.

Grace was among the 20 children and six adults killed by a single gunman at Sandy Hook Elementary School last December.

Trip organizer Monte Frank, whose daughter attended Sandy Hook Elementary School, re-introduced the constitution during a rally Saturday morning, stressing that the second amendment does not trump all others.

“Yesterday was Dylan Hockley’s seventh birthday…he had the right to turn 7. He had the right to turn 8 and 9 and so did all of our other beautiful 20 children. The second amendment does not trump those rights,” he said.

Good luck being unarmed in DC. I hope they don’t get lost.

How do they transform grief into egomania like that?

Most of us have had heartbreaking things happen in our lives - life is not fair - grow up.

Easy: They are paid to.

And I’m willing to bet who did it ! (Hint: They also bus people to counter-protest patriots)

When this sort of thing happens, tons of organizations will approach you and give you, literally, a menu of items to choose from. From appearances on your favorite shows, to interviews with famous people, and even major legislative opportunity (Like running for office).

If you want further details, feel free to PM me. I’m still gathering the data to support my statements.

Meant to post my reply at the site but am now entangled in power struggles at our town republican committee.

Here's my reply to the site:

"The right to bear arms does not trump the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. "

What utter tripe. No one is saying one right trumps the other. People who look at the Bill of Rights and claims that one right may trump another is thinking with his hind end. They are all equal rights.

By the way, Mr. Frank's mixing metaphors so to speak. Nowhere in the Constitutions does it say "the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness". That's in the Declaration of Independence.

Guess what else is in the there? How about: "He has called together legislative bodies at places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the depository of their public records, for the sole purpose of fatiguing them into compliance with his measures. "

Sound familiar? Sounds just like Mr. Frank's group and Malloy's committees doesn't it? Keep us running around chasing these people away from our regular duties so as to fatigue us in our God given right to protect ourselves from criminals and despots alike.

Mr. Frank cannot speak to me. Or millions like me. He can only speak to weak minded, gullible and feal peoples. I will not stand feal to criminals and despots who wish to control my lives and the live of my children. I am the last stand of protection for my children and I will stand to the end for my right to protect them.

There is a word for people who freely give over their lives to bureaucrats and politicians - coward!

They could always ride their bikes through all the major cities en route. I recommend MLK Blvd in each town.

He he he.

New York Avenue in DC is also a fun ride.

I once made a wrong turn onto that blighted street that had not been upgraded or repaired since the MLK riots.

Fortunately I was on a Harley, not a bicycle. LOL.

Yeah, riding bikes in spandex, that oughta fix it.

Lord forgive me, but I'm remembering the ending to "Easy Rider" in a more positive light. /S

Hope, Peace and Love.

These sissies will never make it out of CT. When the pain sets in, their silly unicorn and skittles-covered dreams will melt into reality.

BTW, piss and vinegar are much stronger than hope and peace.

And tough love is infinitely better than sissy love.

When a sissy speaks of love...he actually means need, not love.

It would be good to meet Jennifer in a restaurant and dump a plate of spaghetti on her 30 IQ head. I think stuffing garlic bread in her ears would be suitable as a side dish. Finally, how about meatballs in her eyeballs, or am I going too far? Meatballs + eyeballs. It kinda rhymes, but I’m no poet.

Uh... Okay. But. I agree with whatever point you were trying to make. :^0)

So, where are all the militant shellheads here? Come on boys, you always wanted to argue with me. Remember? Remember when you said you Spandex butt in the air was just as conservative as mine in the pick-up? As I was dodging all of shellheadia on no-breakdown country roads, you were busy getting you colorful wussie suits in a bunch at the very thought that the roads were not meant for you. Oh come now, let’s hear your snotty comebacks just one more time.

Let’s get this straight upfront. If McDonnell thinks he’s going to use the unfortunate death of his daughter to strip me of the right to defend my children, he can forget it.

His daughter died because he didn’t take personal responsibility for protecting his child. He relied on a corrupt and ineffective government to protect his child, and he lost her.

The fault of losing your child rests squarely on your shoulders, McDonnell. You lost your child because you didn’t protect her to the best of your ability as her father. The loss of your daughter is your fault, not mine.

My heart breaks for those who lost a little one in this murderous rampage. If they feel this helps them heal, then go for it. It won’t go anywhere..but hey. I just hope they make it safely through New York traffic.

Thanks for the thumbs up, raybbr. Are you still raising olive trees and alligator meat on your farm in Nicaragua? If I have you confused with another FReeper, ignore me.

How about a counter-demonstration?

26 heavily armed Conservatives can pedal through America's worst neighborhoods and dare the residents to bike-jack them.
