“They are highly effective marketing tools.”

Links? Articles?

If someone wants to join the military to play instruments or appear at NASCAR, I question how effective they are at building a fighting force to kill and destroy.

Perhaps you can fill in the blanks with something to back up your thought...?

Precisely. The “chosen one” wants to make sure everyone sees and feels the sequester. He does nothing to help but the community organizer-in-chief wants us to feel pain to accept his change.

AMEN! I saw the Thuderbirds as a cub scout in 1976 and later enlisted BECAUSE OF THAT PERFORMANCE. To date I have served 26 years, including two separate tours overseas in Iraq (OIF 1) and Kuwait. Do you think the government got its money’s worth out of that performance?

I was selected for assignment to the Blue Angels as a young airman many years ago. The process was rigorous and demanding; only the top enlisted from their commands are chosen.

Putting on the Blues jumpsuit for the first time was one of the proudest, if not THE proudest moment of my young life up to that point. It was recognition that I performed at a superior level to my peers.

Like most keyboard warriors you talk out of your rear like you're some knid of expert on subjects you know nothing about, having zero first-hand experience in that realm.

You can take your ignorant comments about a "gay circus" and stick it where the sun don't shine, pal. Get back to me after you've done a tour with the Blues or T-birds for 2 years and survived to talk about it - like you would ever be selected in the first place. Phhfffftt...

Who knows how many young men enlist in the military because of these demonstrations to show the public what they are getting for their tax dollars:

Keynesianism is a failure, even if its defense spending.

You prove my point: yours was a very "gay" response -

I really don't care how wonderful you felt in your blue jumpsuit. You weren't doing anything to improve our combat capabilities. Airshows use finite airframe hours, consume expensive repair parts, waste finite fuel, cost millions in operations, maintenance, and TAD. How well the aircrews prance to their aircraft isn't a measure of combat proficiency.

As far as things go, I can guarantee that I have a lot more combat time than you do. The role of the military services is killing people efficiently and getting our own people home, not entertaining grandma.

I would add that there were probably more recruits from Top Gun than 10 years of flyovers...

I actually read an article about it a couple of years ago. Yeah, it was huge. I think that is why some movies get full military support and others have to buy their hueys at a junk yard and paint ‘em up to look functional.

63% of all spending is for Entitlements, and they are exempt from Sequestration. The military is being raped in Operations & Maintenance funds. The cut is 40% this year. Really.

This is more from America hating Obama punishing conservatives who are the majority audience for patriotic military air shows and flight demonstrations.

It has been said that Air Shows are the last bastion of unbridled Patriotism, ( This has been often noted about Oskosh / EAA ) that goes for this Military Centric ones and even the little local ones with a Gen-Av centricity. Often the National Anthem is played, their is at least one small "Observer" Warbird their, and salutes to the Vets occur as well. It doesn't hurt that so many Gen-Av types have a military background.

With that said, he turned this glass of lemon juice and water into another "Fundemental Transformation" moment...

Tangent to this Gen-Av, is not all that healthy, this will further hurt is as traffic flow to shows will diminish...

As someone closer to this Industry that I am willing to let on here, this is a shot to the kidneys, these progressives don't fight fair...

This from an Air Force member.

“Every squadron’s flying hours have been cut. Red Flags have been cancelled, they are considering closing the weapons school program Air Battle Management (a first since the school opened in the 50’s), they’ve canceled all tuition assistance, all conference attendance and flying tdy’s are cancelled..”

The Patriots Jet Team. As good as the military teams because all the pilots come from the Snowbirds, Thunderbirds or Blue Angels. Coming to a show near you.
