Homosexuals See Advances on Catholic College Campuses
Catholic Education Daily - The Cardinal Newman Society ^ | March 12, 2013, at 10:55 AM | Tim Drake

Dan Meyer, writing (Warning: link contains offensive images) for Boston’s homosexual publication the Edge, reports that the homosexual community is making gains on Catholic college campuses. As examples, he cites changes to the student handbook, providing protection for people based on sexual orientation and gender identity, at San Antonio’s Our Lady of the Lake University, as well as examples from Boston College, The Catholic University of America, and Fordham University.

An increasing number of Catholic colleges and universities have seen the addition of student-run homosexual advocacy and support groups and resource centers.

“The Jesuits, who have been historically regarded as in the vanguard of Catholic intellectual activity and social activism, might be the determining factor in LGBT acceptance,” writes Meyer, who says that Fordham “leads the way.”

Meyer writes that Jesuit universities are not beholden to the local bishop, so therefore have more freedom.

“The Jesuits traditionally do not report to the local bishop but rather to their own officers in Rome,” writes Meyer.

“There is no one in the chain of command in the Catholic Church who can have anything to say about what happens at Boston College,” John McGargh, assistant professor of theology at Boston College, told the Edge.

This is what a student guide told our group on a college tour last summer: “At Boston College, we don’t care what you believe in, just believe in it passionately.”

I think the Pope could declare this university NOT a Catholic institution, and excommunicate the entire damn faculty.

Let’s hope that among the Pope’s top ten list, is cleaning up the administration of Catholic Universities.

This is exactly the path that led to the destruction of the Roman Empire.

Our government, community and cultural leaders seem to want to test that idea - to see if it still applies or if anything has changed.

If the new Pope does what has to be done, and purges the clergy of homosexuals and makes celibacy optional, then perhaps the decadence will begin to recede. If he does purge the clergy of homosexuals, the Jesuit order in the US might disband.

The word "Catholic" in the title should be in quotes.

God bless the Cardinal Newman Society. They are on to these colleges and publish a list of Catholic colleges that do not do this. As far as celibacy is concerned, a priest is supposed to be celibate, as was Jesus, Paul, and others.

Peter was married and according to the Catholics, he was the first pope.

How is it that Catholic universities aren’t bastions of conservatives? I mean, does it even matter who the pope is if Catholic institutions are going to become so worldly?
