Governor Dannel Malloys handpicked commission on Sandy Hook is calling for some of the strongest gun-control measures in the nation, including the banning or possession of any gun that can fire more than 10 bullets without reloading.
The ban would be among the most far-reaching in the United States and comes in direct reaction to the use of a military-style assault rifle and 30-round magazines in the massacre of 20 children and six adult educators three months ago in Newtown.
This prohibition would extend to military-style firearms as well as handguns, the commissions report says. Law enforcement and military would be exempt from this ban.
The commissions chairman, Hamden Mayor Scott Jackson, noted in a letter to Malloy that some of the 42 recommendations are controversial.

Bump
Most Winchester & Marlin 30/30 lever action rifles only hold 6 rounds, but can be reloaded. A gun that can only fire 10 rounds or less sounds like a disposable weapon, no reload.
Levers that use 22 LR (rimfire) shells typically hold 10-15 rounds. I saw no notice to exception of these.
I suspect the wording here is very twisted, but they may be POLs so stupid as to not know the difference. I have seen Congressmen (& women) who clearly demonstrate this)
You have to be a certain age to get old Pacer jokes.
Or disco jokes. Or polyester jokes. Or Miz Lillian jokes.
“Why are they wanting to confiscate my personal defense weapon?”
—
Because they know how you are going to react to what they are planning. Theft of wealth, confiscation of property, subjection and murder of those not deemed necessary.
There is only one type of good Commie.
Google Saiga....
aguila mini slugs would push most guns over the top on capacity.
same with any tube fed rifle that holds magnum rounds- using the special version would put them over the top.
Because they know they can only control you so far before you fight back. In order for them to continue to tighten their Rule over Us... they need us as helpless as possible.
There is no other reason. Anything else they try to use as a reason is a lie.
Period. Full stop.
Colorado governor to sign gun controls into law

DENVER Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper will sign legislation Wednesday that sets limits on ammunition magazines and expands background checks for firearms, marking a Democratic victory in a state where gun ownership is a treasured right and Second Amendment debate has played out in the wake of two mass shootings.
The measures proposed are some of the strictest gun laws in the nation, and their passage comes after weeks of tense legislative battles. Republicans and gun rights supporters put up a major fight against the measures in this politically moderate state, while Democrats made them the centerpieces of a package of legislative proposals drafted in reaction to shooting rampages at a suburban Denver movie theater and a Connecticut elementary school last year.

Stupidity most be a requirement of public office!
A classroom of 30 kids.
An insane evil human being with a gun and 5 - 10 round magazines still equals Sandy Hook!
In a combat situation I can go through 5 magazines in a matters of minutes.
Yes, the kind you could buy in a local hardware store...
Q- What goes “Clip-Clop-Clip-Clop, BANG! Clip-Clop-Clip-Clop”?
A- Amish drive by shooting.
aguila? they jam in my 2 marlin pumps....and my Winchester pump.
the guns would have to be modified to take the tiny rounds properly.
Raybbr and I have been up early countering the antis.

It is a sham to get their foot in the anti-gun door.
t has always been about handguns. Assault rifles are just a decoy to try and get their anti-gun foot in the door.
Once they get a ban on AWs then they will use the same reasons to go after handguns.
John Kennedy killed with a 5 shot bolt action rifle.
Charles Whitman, killed 14, wounded 32 others mostly with a bolt action 6mm hunting rifle. Also used a shotgun and an m1 carbine.
Medgar Evers, shot with a 5 shot 1917 bolt action Enfield rifle.
Martin Luther King, shot with a 4 shot Remington 760 pump action Gamemaster rifle.
Bobby Kennedy with a .22 Iver Johnson Cadet revolver.
George Wallace wounded with a 5 shot Charter Arms .38spl revolver.
Howard Johnsons shooter killed nine, wounded thirteen with a 4 shot RUGER .44 mag Deerslayer rifle.
Gerald Ford attacked with a 7 shot 1911 semi auto.
Edmond OK post office with two National Guard 7 shot 1911 pistols.
John Lennon murdered with a 5 shot Charter Arms revolver.
Ronald Reagan and Jim Brady with an RG-14 .22 revolver.
What do they all have in common? NONE over 7 rounds, yet after each one came a cry of panic to ban all of them.
This falls in line as to what Nelson “Pete” Shields wanted to do.

“I’m convinced that we have to have federal legislation to build on. We’re going to have to take one step at a time, and the first step is necessarily given the political realities going to be very modest.
Of course, it’s true that politicians will then go home and say, ‘This is a great law. The problem is solved.’ And it’s also true that such statements will tend to defuse the gun-control issue for a time.
So then we’ll have to strengthen that law, and then again to strengthen that law, and maybe again and again. Right now, though, we’d be satisfied not with half a loaf but with a slice. Our ultimate goal total control of handguns in the United States is going to take time.
My estimate is from seven to ten years. The problem is to slow down the increasing number of handguns sold in this country. The second problem is to get them all registered. And the final problem is to make the possession of all handguns and all handgun ammunition except for the military, policemen, licensed security guards, licensed sporting clubs, and licensed gun collectors totally illegal.”

“Yes, I’m for an outright ban [on handguns].”

HCI, around 1984, came out in favor of a ban on semi-auto rifles and shotguns.
Bookmarked.
that should be my choice to make.
They need to be constantly asked -
WHAT ARE YOU PLANNING TO DO AFTER THE PEOPLE ARE DISARMED
THAT YOU CAN’T DO BEFORE THEY ARE DISARMED?
