When certified firearms instructor Shawn Moore posted a photo of his 11 year-old son on Facebook the last thing he expected was a SWAT style raid on his home. The picture showed his son, a licensed hunter, holding his new birthday gift, a .22 caliber rifle.
While Moores son proudly displaying his semi-automatic personal defense rifle was completely legal, an anonymous tipster contacted New Jerseys Department of Children and Family Services and declared that the Moore family was neglecting and abusing their child, an unfounded accusation that led to the mobilization of local police who were apparently not at all concerned with the unconstitutionality of their actions which violated numerous protections of the Moore family including their right to bear arms, their right to be secure in their homes, their right to speak freely, and their right to be considered innocent until proven guilty.
Of critical importance is that the police who raided the Moore home never even saw the photo.
It was all hear say. Just a phone call saying someone saw a pic of a child holding a gun, reports Moore.
Shawn Moore recounted the incident at the Delaware Open Carry forums:
The fight has officially been brought to my front door.
Last night I was out with a buddy of mine. I got a text from my wife that the cops and DYFS [Division of Youth and Family Services] are at the house and they wanna check out my guns and needed me to open my safe.
Im instantly on my way. I get in contact with [attorney] Evan Nappen on the way. I explain the situation.
I walk in my house and hand the phone to the first cop I see. Then direct all of them outside. DYFS got a call because of a pic of my son holding a gun.
They wanted to look around and check all my guns out, make sure they were all registered.
Obviously that didnt go well because I refused.
I had Nappen on speaker phone the entire time so they had to deal with both of us. They kept trying to pressure me to open my safe. They had no warrant, no charges, nothing.
I didnt budge.
I was told I was being unreasonable and that I was acting suspicious because I wouldnt open my safe. Told me they were gonna get a search warrant. Told em go ahead.
Nappen (my lawyer) asked me for the DYFS workers name. She wouldnt give it. I asked for credentials and she wouldnt show them. I tried to take a pic of her and she turned around real fast and walked away.
After a while of them threatening to take my kids, get warrants and intimidation they left. Empty handed and seeing nothing.
People it can happen that fast.
I am mentally comparing this pic with the one of Elian being ‘rescued’ from the freedom of the US.
Opposite in so many ways!!

The situation in our country does have parallels to the end of the Roman Empire.
Exactly what is it going to take before we realize we are well beyond the point in time for a Thomas Jefferson moment? We refuse to draw a line in the sand and government knows this fully well and is taking advantage of our weakness.
Thug mentality of government knows no limits unless they are removed from office. Seeing as the election process is so rigged and controlled by the CPUSA ( disguised as the democrat party) I submit the government has so exceeded its authority as to render it no better than all the other thug-ocracys in history.
I triple-dog-dare you...
Their goal is to get a conviction. If the person is actually guilty its a bonus.
Get out of the NE people!
We don’t have to take up arms to start resisting.
Just start resisting. Know your rights and insist on them.
“No, you may not see my identification. Am I under arrest or am I free to go?”
“No, you may not enter my house without a warrant, and I will not answer any of your questions without a lawyer, and I will not turn off the video recording device.”
I don’t think this is a homeschool family, but it is certainly along the lines of what has happened to homeschoolers.
So a ping for homeschoolers, just FYI on how to handle out of control social services and law enforcement.
The left has become a dictatorial totalitarian regime. And even if Obama does not run for a third term or end elections as we know it, all he needs to do is declare martial law and have his cronies like Biden or Hillary succeed him. Or Just keep on rigging elections so that his people win. The left cheats to win each and every election.

Thank you for the links, B!
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, “If you are over 13 years old Facebook is not for you.” flame away
I suppose since as minors by law children do not have autonomy or the right to make decisions on their own for themselves in any known jurisdiction of the world. Instead their adult caregivers, including parents, social workers, teachers, youth workers, and others, are vested with that authority, depending on the circumstances.
then being that the parent actually bought and owns the weapon, he can extend that right to minors under his tutelage.
So you’re saying that children have no rights but that which an adult chooses for them.
Amen! Well said.
Where does one find these types of lawyers?
Historians trace the death of the Roman republic to Julius Caesar when he crossed the Rubicon river to engage in Civil War. I think historians will trace the end of our republic to the day in 2008 that the SCOTUS did not look into the eligibility of Obama, which was their job. They didnt do it because they feared the political consequences. The SCOTUS has been granted lifetime employment for that very reason, that they wouldnt need to consider political consequences in upholding the constitution. They failed our republic.
Not sure these are the vindictive types or more of the defensive types.
Yes, we need some more vindictive types out there to push back and make these petty tyrants think twice about harrassing someone.
“You mean _I_ could be held accountable for my decisions?”
That’s what we use to tell our children. 8)
But, not everyone agrees...
