The popular CBS reality show "The Amazing Race is under fire for featuring an episode set in Hanoi, Vietnam, where contestants go to a B-52 Memorial, which is the wreckage of an American bomber plane shot down during the Vietnam War, to find the next clue in their televised round-the-world journey.
In the episode, the twisted metal of the downed plane is treated as any other prop, with a bright Amazing Race Double-U-Turn signed planted in front of it, signifying to contestants the next phase of their scavenger hunt.
The show also had contestants learn a song that was performed for them by children in front of a portrait of North Vietnam communist leader Ho Chi Minh, with subtitled lyrics that included Vietnam Communist Party is glorious. The light is guiding us to victory.

Actually the contestants had to memorize the wording on the tops of umbrellas at the conclusion of the show, then go to another room and bring back a drawing(probably done by a child) that had those words on it; if correct they were given their next clue.
The irony is that Vietnam fears the Chinese so much, they would welcome us back.
I have watched every season of the show since it began except for the seasons where they let people who were contestants on other reality shows compete.
What I truly find amazing is that executive producer Jerry Bruckheimer is/was one of Hollywoods few power wielding conservatives, yet he allowed something like this on one of his shows.
I won’t be watching anymore unless there is some sort of apology. Shame, shame.
Always liked the BUFF .
“Oh well they love us now.”
Can you elaborate?
yep- China will take over their south china seas islands- get the oil - tell them to do what Obama does- Eat Dog Meat!
they will probably ask us for help- and dipshit mclame, F’n Kerry. will give it to them!
They applauded us when the tour was over and thanked us for assisting us in “saving” them. Then they took us to a bar and gave us free drinks. All the other folks I met in Vietnam were very friendly. I did not serve in Vietnam (to young) but there were folks who did and I was happy to see them appreciated.
Yea, it reminded me of this vapid insipid dogma song that children were forced to sing.
It's gripping. Unforgettable. You have to listen to the whole thing though.

They come under fire from SAM batteries, and some aircraft are lost.
Sorry, the audio is of a Linebacker II mission, not Arc Light. The target is Hanoi.
Well, root for Max and Katie. Max is a Conservative and a great guy.
...I got real familiar with the F-4C,D’s
I think it’s stretching things to be offended about the B-52 site. It’s a memorial to remember what happened. I watched the episode of Amazing Race and no where were there people cheering or celebrating that Americans were killed, it’s just there to remember what happened.
What surprises me more is that people were offended at this and not when all the contestants had to listen to the singing of Vietnam’s national anthem over and over again. Of course, while we watching the TV got subtitles, I’m guessing the contestants had no idea what the Vietnamese were saying (mostly socialist propaganda).
EDIT: I said that wrong above, it WASN’T the national anthem being sung, just a patriotic Vietnamese song. Couldn’t find the lyrics for it.
America lost over 58,000 good men in that war and the politicians ended up abandoning the effort with a phony peace treaty that, in effect, gave the communists the victory. No one wants to ignore history but making that hardcore communist country part of a popular TV 'reality' show using some lame commie propaganda song and a crashed B-52 as part of the show seemed a bit callous. I wasn't in the VietNam war so maybe its just me. If VietNam vets are O.K. with it, who am I to be offended? Besides, the show has already come and gone.
I know. They're not aware of their total uselessness to an avanced civilization.
Yeah, I watched the episode at a friends house and we were yelling at the TV.
CBS...Commie loving assholes!
They didn't have to "learn" the commie song, they had to remember what was written on some umbrellas, in Vietnamese, so they could find the correct commie poster and bring it to the commie judge.
The part that really pissed me off was they had to go to the B52 memorial, where Americans most likely were captured or died, and get there next clue. Yet, they were clueless...products of public schooling.
Beckel, on the 5 tonight, was outraged.
He said he will hound cbs until they apologize.
