Right Bemoans Possible Jay Leno Exit (too many anti-Obama jokes, Fox Network Interested?)

Could Jay Leno become a new conservative hero?

In the bitter and gossipy duel between Leno and NBC (the “Tonight Show” host is set to be replaced by Jimmy Fallon, according to reports), some see political fallout in Leno’s fall from grace.

“Left cheering Leno exit typical, he dared to entertain and offer jokes for the other 50% of country. Unacceptable in ‘New America’…” tweeted Matt Drudge this week in the wake of news of Fallon’s ascension.

Fox News’ “The Five” speculated that Leno was suffering for his barbs against President Barack Obama.

“Clearly he pushed it too far,” said Greg Gutfeld said, half joking, on Thursday. “The network will send him to a reeducation camp for required therapy,” adding that Leno should poke more fun at Sarah Palin if he wants to keep his job.

Perhaps conservatives will be cheering when they hear this - Leno could land at Fox.

This from the New York Post on Friday: “The head of Fox’s powerful affiliate board — who represents the majority of the 206 Fox stations around the country, said yesterday he favors building a new late-night show — starting at 11 o’clock — around the departing ‘Tonight Show’ host. ‘If Fox were to present the right business plan, the affiliate board would be interested,’ Steve Pruett, the board chairman, told The Post.”

A Socialist characteristic: taking themselves very seriously and not liking divergent views. In the Leftist world, “diversity” (and any and everything else) is only a means of implementing Socialism. Afterwards, “diversity”, etc., is fine as long as it follows the party line.

Is this really the reason Leno’s leaving? NBC didn’t seem to mind when Carson lambasted politicians. I guess they’ve changed since then ... as long as the bashing is directed toward the right it’s okay, but don’t bash the left?

Don’t be led that Leno is anything more than a TV personality. Jay Leno is an entertainer and Jay is for Jay and nothing more.

The Fox broadcast network is just as leftist as the others

Matt Towery wrote on the conservative Town Hall website that Leno – despite being a liberal – is like “Barry Goldwater” when compared with David Letterman.

“…I know that Jay Leno, like most on network TV, is a self-proclaimed ‘liberal,’ but I could care less. Next to David Letterman, he looks like Barry Goldwater,” Tower wrote.

Towery described Leno as an “equal opportunity offender” comic, who doesn’t back away from poking fun at Democrats when it’s warranted.

“The critics generally hate Leno, because to them he’s too much a part of ‘average’ America. He doesn’t have the endless—and I mean endless — sarcasm of Letterman and actually refrains from attacking people. He’s not cutting edge. He’s too much the apple pie American. Oh and he’s too funny to a majority of Americans,” Towery wrote

I don't watch those shows, so I don't know much other than what I read.

As I recall, they all were anti-Bush/Reagan , pro Clinton/Obama, so I'm not sure taking on a late night talk show would be worth the investment if the host is not conservative all through.

A lot goes out when chatting with guests and the guests themselves are representative of the host.

We'll see.

Saw a documentary on Johnny Carson recently.

After two grueling hours of viewing his self destroyed family and personal life, as is fitting for contemporary (entertainment, a few who knew him well chimed in with, “no one ever knew whom voted for; he was an equal opportunity mocker. Why would he want to alienate half of his audience?”

Yep.

Leno was about as down-the-middle as one can get.

When Carson was there, NBC wasn’t fully owned and operated by the DNC/OFA.

I'm quite sure that's the case.. In Carson's NBC era, they poked fun at all sides... nowadays, schwacking democrats is almost verboten.

I wouldn’t get too excited about leno. He seemed to be one of the front men for the king during the election run. He’s doing this just to annoy his bosses right now who are about to give him the hook.

Is this really the reason Leno’s leaving?

I'd say it's more likely all of his jabs at NBC. From one of this week's monologues, for example:

“According to several reports, scientists say they are getting closer and closer to being able to do Jurassic Park-style cloning of extinct species,” Leno told his audience. “Imagine that. Things that were once thought to be extinct could be brought back from the dead. So there’s hope for NBC. It could turn around.”
