Comcast Cable Bans All Firearm, Ammunition Advertisers
Breitbart ^ | 3/22/13 | AWR Hawkins

Posted on 03/22/2013 4:54:02 PM PDT by Nachum

Comcast Cable, "the nation's largest cable provider," has decided it will not accept firearm and ammunition advertisers in the future.

This decision comes after Comcast has been running ads for some gun and hunting groups for decades. Comcast chose this new position after purchasing NBCUniversal, which has a long-standing ban against firearm, ammunition and firework advertisements.

This move brings Comcast in line with its competitors, Time Warner Cable and Cox Communications.

Cox already had a ban similar to the one Comcast has now instituted and Time Warner Cable announced in January that it was banning "ads showing semi-automatic weapons and guns pointed at people."

Go satellite.

DTV maybe.

Certainly not Dish.

Not that anybody needs to advertise ammunition or guns. There’s none to be had right now anyway.

I used to manage telemarketers. I can assure you....your comments and what not are just a bump in the road. They not only don’t get to “corporate”, they don’t even get marked down. The machine just connects to another caller.

It’s best to just hang up on them. They care about making a sale. That’s all.

Comcast was the worst cable service we ever had. Awful!

Their service stank and their programing was terrible. Fortunately, they sold out to Morris Broadband. It is beter now without Comcast "in charge".

That's the short method. Long method: keep them hoping for 10 wasted minutes and THEN tell them you're not buying because of their anti-rights stance. Time is the only commodity they have to sell. Alternate short method: air horn.

Good morning.

The firearms and ammunition manufacturers and retailers don't need to advertise as long as 0bama is president. He is the firearms and ammunition salesman of the century.

"..but I can't recall any ammo ads (maybe I should be watching another channel).

On DirectTV the Pursuit, Sportsman, and Outdoor networks all have extensive hunting and fishing programming (nearly 24/7) and most of the ads are gums and ammo related.

Channels 604, 605 & 606.

Interesting. Comcast (possibly the worst provider on the planet) is going to ban “ads showing semi-automatic weapons and guns pointed at people.” I am guessing but that means < 1% of the advertisers. Outside of the shear pointless hypocritical stupidity in doing this, it costs them nothing. I would be really impressed if they banned all shows with semi-automatic weapons and guns pointed at people as a way of making a statement. It would still be a pointless empty gesture, but at least they would not be hypocrites.
