The day before the U.S. Supreme Court hears arguments on the constitutionality of gay marriage, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush tells Newsmax TV in an exclusive interview that the issue should be decided by the states.
“I would prefer it to be a state-by-state issue,” Bush tells Newsmax. “That’s how we have dealt with a lot of issues in the United States.
“Our federal system is a spectacular way to deal with changing mores—and states can take advantage of opportunities much better than federal government,” Bush says. “This could be a place where the states play a role, as is the case right now.” …

No....There is no such thing as gay marriage. Period
It appears to me that this is a matter of belief, a matter that is clearly covered by the First Amendment.
Jeeze, just like Rand, JB refuses to say if or not he supports DOMA.... more bla-bla-bla dancing with his words.

No kidding! This is just another of the States rights issues that will come up in the coming years. It is nice that one of our Republican leaders thinks that this is fact but it is not so among the rest of our so called Republican Representatives or Senators.
When these folks decide to transfer the power to the Federal Government they are deciding that they do not have the power (or want it) to change things (can you say that public opinion or the current way the wind blows - no beliefs) That means that what they believe has no bearing on what they will vote for but they will acquiescent to the Federal Government.
You not only need to realize that but vote accordingly.
I think this is where Palin is on this issue as well....

OK Jeb should the federal government recognize those marriages in all the vast areas where they have to decide the validity of relationships, such as the military, or with huge numbers of federal employees, how about when a couple moves to DC, or applies to immigrate to America, how about testifying in federal cases?
No law at any level should be established that forces the citizen to support and service homosexual behavior.
As far as I’m concerned, govt has no business in the affairs of marriage.
No state (or fed) should not be sticking its nose into a sacrament of the church! Marriage is a religious institution, NOT a civil institution! The attempt to redefine marriage is little more than a challenge to the power of the church to define its own sacraments!
No state should ever be in a position to usurp religious authority on the question of the church’s own sacraments! Jeb Bush is as wrong as the lefties on this!
What’s next? The state gets to redefine communion? Baptism??? The government has no business meddling in the sacraments of the church period!

My view on this has always been that marriage is between a man and a woman. Period. But if a gay couple can find a church that would marry them, GOOD for them. I support it.
I do NOT believe there should be a law nor should it be a right to marry. The government should stay out of it all together.
If the government gets involved and gay marriage becomes a right, churches can be sued for refusing to marry a gay couple just like they can now be fined for refusing to offer “health” insurance to kill unborn babies.
Another reason government should stay out of it (unless they rule that gay marriage is not legit)is because it could increase the number of gay immigrants in the USA who will marry their same-sex American partner for the free ticket to live in the United States.
If they find a church that will marry them that’s between them and their ‘god” whoever he or she might be.
It should NEVER be law or acknowledged legally.
