I’ve made some fire starters from toilet paper tubes stuffed with dryer lint and filled with parafin.
Slice into 1/2 inch disks.
Man... those things burn for a LONG time and will get your tinder going.
Semper Gumby!
Buy a BB gun.
I like that idea. I need to save my lint....
I don’t have time to read the whole article. What does SHTF
stand for?
Duh! You never heard of an xbox?
;o)
As a bonus, you can patronize Hobby Lobbby for the brick of parafin (though old crayons & candles work as well).
Actually from what I read in that article, I was getting the lighters to trade. Apparently, the means for starting a fire can be mighty valuable and might be worth a can of food.
Sooooo much people can buy now to prep both for long term hunker down and for being on the move. Look on amazon for instance, they sell medical “backpacks” akin to what field medics take with them on patrol (minus the pain killers) for a very reasonable price. I picked one up along with a staple gun for quick suture.
As someone else said, butt load of bic lighters. Why waste energy and time when you can have something so small at the ready? Lots of ammo but a good portion “ready to go”, i.e., get on the move with you..Pre-staging in case you have to bug out or knowing how to read the times and fortfying if you have to. Purchasing anti-biotics now (even if it’s from the local fish shop). Dried foods, compound bows. Shoe laces, aspirin...things that you will need for a year or so if you are on the move.
Excellent article from a guy that has the T-shirt.
Same here. Armed and ready for sure. The SHTF scenario is actually a series of scenarios, the way I see it. Barring any natural catastrophe, we will probably see a series of financial collapses happen such as Spain, Greece, Italy, Portugal, Japan, etc. (These countries are in fifth gear heading over the cliff) Then subsequent riots. Will they all happen at once?
-Don't think so. With each new collapse, people and markets will get more jittery. THE collapse we will worry about is the one right here in the USA. I could see the stock market here actually surge, because of all the idiots with any money left in those countries will want to park what's left of there wealth in the USA, alas, short lived. In the meantime, better get prepping for a two week (at a time) shortage of stuff. The most crucial of shortages will be gas, ammo, food staples.
For every person who has a "bug out" place to go there are 100,000 of us who don't. I will hang and hold on, like millions. It is the random and the panic that I really worry about.
