"What is truth?" Pilate said. (John 18:38)

Why, don't YOU know? In the age of Obama, truth is collecting enough taxes so Michelle and her girls can have a once-a-month super-duper vacay!

"You can't go into people's homes and conduct searches without probable cause," Pilate said.

How quaint. How...pre-Obama...

This was going on long before Obama took office. Be sure to give Bill Bennett his due, as well.

My favorite part of the book too...especially loved the weapon Henry used. Most folks look at me sideways when I tell them just how lethal a .22 LR is.

Sorry, this is not a “pre Obama” issue.

This is a deterioration of the 4th Amendment issue that is as old as the WOD.

Thanks for the ping. Very troubling, both the article, and your later account.

A) never let them inside without a warrant
B) never “step outside to talk” to them
C) only open the door enough to be polite, without opening it enough to give them free looks inside

Greeneyes... I am late to the thread. I’ve been out all day. Your story is terrifying in many ways. For one, they followed this guy from St. Louis to your home. Makes me wonder did they interview every gas attendant, coffee shop waitress along the way. I think (and I may be completely wrong) but don’t you live on a nice chunk of property? Is this the reason they felt that this guy was setting “up shop” simply because you don’t reside in a townhouse? Very good information for any Freeper who lives on some property or plans to purchase some in the future.

It almost sounds like they were on a fishing expedition to me. They confiscated wedding matches? They told you that you may need to testify? To what? That he had dropped by in order to discuss some job? Not to scare you... but just watch your back in the future. Seems to me that they are looking at your place for illegal behavior based on junk but it is better to know than to be blinded by ignorance. God Bless and hugs, Mom

And two on Holiday Weeks, such as Easter (these EVIL Muzzie, America-Hating Usurpers do take advantage of Easter and Christmas, while hating Christians, but on our millions of tax dollars, or just more deficit spending)...I say, ‘Send ‘em all back to wherever the Muzzie Daddy came from...probably Kenya...born and bred...

Let ‘em all suck in the muck that is there...

I am just amazed that nobody, at least that I am aware of, has not set up an empty “trap house”, designed to seriously injure or kill a raiding SWAT squad.

Tell me you think you, of all the people, would be made aware of it. Hell’s bells, 95%+ of the people know little to nothing about the 13 month old homicide victim. The press is not your friend nor on your team.

Lots of Viet Nam combat vets are being joined by the new vets who graduated with degrees in IED whom are not happy with the government either.

DHS ‘need’ their new vehicles and all them bullets.

“Anyone can be labeled a suspected drug dealer, or terrorist based on little or no evidence, and forget the 4th amendment-that’s where we are at today. It is a sad state of affairs.”

I've been telling this to drug warriors for over a decade. When an easily plant-able coin-sized package on your person is the only evidence needed for a felony conviction and property seizure, we are no longer a nation of laws. It basically means anyone can be imprisoned and robbed by the state at will.

Of course they'll scream “fry the druggies” until a dirty cop plants a “twist” on them and ruins their life for that big promotion. And of course the cop will get a slap on the wrist after threatening to out the whole department. And of course we'll only hear about it thru overseas media:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2095772/Cowboy-cop-Jason-Arbeeny-planted-crack-couples-car-seat-escapes-jail.html

You're very lucky it didn't happen to you after their interstate “big bust” turned out to be nonsense. Cops tend to drop "little helpers" when they are "positive!" the target is a criminal who is smart/lucky to not have evidence on them that day...

Well, I’ll add on to your comment, Greeneyes since you pinged the Garden Thread.

Bad guys like green houses that aren’t theirs — with or without the “war on drugs.”

Back in the ‘80’s we had a greenhouse that my husband built in our high fenced backyard.

Bad guys goes over the fence and check out the greenhouse — found tomatoes & peppers and left.

That’s just the way bad guys are — doing things that’s bad.

You might say the bad guys curtailed our freedom to a certain degree.

Well, If rude man had been the first one at the door, I probably would have responded differently.

You have to balance your actions against future living in the area. Being rude to cops in a small town is not generally advisable.

In fact, it can set a person up for a power struggle where the cards are stacked against you and/or reprisals. I had nothing to hide, and no objections to them looking around.Besides, under the drug laws, no warrent was required.

The only objection I had was rude man who jumped Hubby for no reason, and I did register that complaint to his face. He eventually had to eat a little crow. All the others were quite respectful to us and I gave them the same respect.

My biggest complaint is with the changes in the law that infringe on the 4th amendment, and that is appropriately addressed with my representatives.

We have a little over 20 acres north of town next to a creek and county road. Our home is on 1 acre in a subdivision of 1/2 acre lots, about a mile outside the city limits. The raid was on the home.

I suspect the young man in question was not a complete innocent, and had probably been involved with the making of meth at some point in his life - lots of kids in this area have.

The matches he bought were not customised. They were blank. He claimed they were going to decorate them for the wedding. It is a plausible story, but also could have just been a cover story.

It was our misfortune that he pulled into our driveway, instead of his girlfriend’s driveway. As far as I am concerned the cops muffed it. They should have waited and watched until the meth lab was being set up, or at least until he started unloading the “precursor”.

Fortunately, they were only “positive” about the young man and the aide. They were expecting to find a meth lab. That's a little more difficult to plant. The majority of the cops seemed to understand that we weren't involved very quickly.

I believe that our laid back response removed their suspicion of us quickly.

When I run the blower for my pipe organ my electric bill spikes. The last time the electric company came out.

Next it will be JBTs who will test the limits of rounds in a magazine.

I guess it is time to stop using the credit card for any purchase, no checks, just cash when ever possible.

We are living in a time the 2nd amendment was designed for but we are ignoring it.

Are you making a blanket statement or speaking about isolated incidents?
