self ^ | March 30, 2013 | Bob Ireland

Posted on 03/30/2013 10:54:33 AM PDT by Bob Ireland

Loren J. Ems, author of "Sword of Liberty" has organized an Article V Constitutional conference at the University of Central Florida. The event, to be held the weekend of April 26-27, has enlisted a number of 'experts' to participate.

Such an 'Article V' convention can be held by various states, bypassing Washington altogether. This current effort would be a beginning.

Citizens are encouraged to participate, and can enroll at the conference web site. Any FReeper including those from Florida are welcome to participate in the weekend meetings.

Attendance is FREE

***We're not giving up in S.C. in spite of the long odds***

Never give up! [As JimRob is saying.] We in the South know the true meaning of 'carpetbagger'. It is time the rest of the country learns the meaning!

“We are fighting a rear-action skirmish with ‘LOSER’ chasing us like a bumper sticker. It will require a really dedicated effort to overturn all this treason! Individual states reasserting their sovereignty is a good start!”

I agree we have been betrayed as we frequently are when it comes to the inherit corruption of Federal employees particular those that unaccountable men who wear black robes.

I for one was expecting this betrael along with most of the http://tenthamendmentcenter.com/

The Federal court like it or not has a long history of ignoring the text AND original practice of Federal Constitution. You have to remember that theses guys were hand picked by the very men who are bound by that Constitution in addition to being “bound” themselves.

The Federal court has no incentive beyond sheer magnanimity to up-hold the limits of the Federal Constitution upon either themselves or their appointing masters.

Magnanimity of course among power drunk men is an even more rare commodity than virtue. To expect a body of federal employees so chosen to hold seriously a document of limits upon themselves is madness.

If there is to be any constitutional limits upon Washington it must be imposed from the outside by the only interested parties the people and there States. As the people individuality are too weak to offer seriously resistance in many cases our States must find a way to do so.

Thomas Jefferson warned that the greatest threat to our Republic would be a tyranny of the judges... Sounds a bit contemporary, eh?

Yes, but you know as well as I do that some of the delegates would propose, and maybe even pass, Amendments institutionalizing some of the rampant socialism that we are currently experiencing.

If you want a Con Con, make it a clean one. Have an amendment firing all members of the current Congress, as well as repealing the 16th and 17th Amendments and abolishing the Fed.

This is not a Constitutional Convention. Read up on the link in the story and Article V of the Constitution. It is a way of bypassing Washington altogether.

Politicaly we could not acomplish such a thing in the current political landscape.

Of course its worth noting Constitutional or not, theses socialist programs will contenue untill they collapce.

The only thing adding them to the constitution will do will make it all that more difficult to get rid of them when their financially dead weight upon everyone.

The way to get rid of Social Security like most socialist schemes is to privatize then volenteerize them. We can’t do that if the left are successful in enshrining the failure in the constitution.

It would become like the post office, political dead weight constantly revived at great expense to the tax payer.

Indeed it does. Thomas Jefferson and James Maddsions predictions proved to be quite ape. But then again so did many of the forecasts of the anti-federalist.

When given power & time politicians tend to break even the most well crafted systems of control to grow their own power and impose their own ambition.

We must face the real political posablity that we are in the apathy phase of our civilization’s decline. What we have is the lot of us and we must find a solution to work with that lot.

More Mischief that is already taking place in ignoring the Federal Constitution?

We must find a way to make the Federal Constitution enforceable against Washington.

All we need is a 28th Constitutional amendment that states: The federal government is abolished.

If three-quarters of the states approve it, Washington DC seizes to exist.

Of course we would need a state’s structure to pick up the pieces and create a way to disassemble Washington and appoint a new commander in chief to take care of the military. That’s what an Article V convention would be for - to create an interim government to set up a new federal government with few and limited powers.

“Or such things as repealing the bill of rights.”

Explain how rats, who only control 11 states, can repeal the BOR.

They may only control 11 outright but BO won 26 states in 2012. How do you expect to win anything? Further who wants to risk the extreme efforts that the Rats would make to lie cheat and steal their way to ultimate power?

I did read the site, did you?
It calls a meeting to discuss whether to suggest an action to the state legislature to request such a thing.

UCF is a 50,00+ enrollment community college here in Central Florida. I would not recommending taking a degree from a graduate at face value. Many students can't put a clear thought to words on paper.

I question why the University is hosting this event. I would bet that 80% of the student body voted for Obama. This could turn out to be a very bad thing!

UCF is not alone in this regard. I have served as an adjunct professor at a couple of major Texas campuses -- both with more "tradition" than UCF.

In one, an advertising class on media, I discovered that only six of 36 could accurately calculate a cost per thousand, even with a calculator.

In another, business writing, I was advised that my objective was to raise the students' writing ability to the point where they could compose one coherent paragraph, with proper grammer and spelling.

In general, they were upper division kids, largely bright and motivated.

But...they...had...never...been...taught...how...to...do...these...things. Grade school, junior high and high school, it turns out, were largely wasted years from an academic standpoint. I found myself wondering: what had they learned...and from whom?

> “A much more effective approach will be to push our state representatives to enforce the one we have, especially the 10th Amendment.”

No offense intended but this is full of raw naivete and naked ignorance.

States are now subordinated and will remain subordinated to a growing centralized authority. There is no hope in enforcing anything substantial against federal powers. The 10th Amendment was abandoned by states as an enforcement tool generations ago. It’s only relevance is in filling a gap; when the federal government is not involved in a matter, it is left to the states but the prerogative is always with the federal government.

Lastly, if ‘our enemies’ were to use a states convention to rewrite the Constitution, there is nothing stopping them now from doing so.

The reason ‘our enemies’ are not involved in using states conventions is because they don’t have the power; the right does have the power.

But will the right always have the power? No, the move to the left towards Socialism will not retreat unless the Constitution is amended starting with repeal of the Woodrow Wilson amendments, the 16th, 17th and 18th of which the 18th (prohibition) has already been repealed.

At some time in the future, the left will have the power to use the state conventions option and unlike the right they will use it.
