U.N. passes sweeping international arms regulation viewed by some as Second Amendment override

The United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday signed off on a sweeping, first-of-its-kind treaty to regulate the international arms trade, brushing aside worries from U.S. gun rights advocates that the pact could lead to a national firearms registry and disrupt the American gun market.

The long-debated U.N. Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) requires countries to regulate and control the export of weaponry such as battle tanks, combat vehicles and aircraft and attack helicopters, as well as parts and ammunition for such weapons. It also provides that signatories will not violate arms embargoes, international treaties regarding illicit trafficking, or sell weaponry to a countries for genocide, crimes against humanity or other war crimes.

With the Obama administration supporting the final treaty draft, the General Assembly vote was 154 to 3, with 23 abstentions.

Lol. I know right.

So many people here are forgetting that there will be states that say no, and secede.

Local cops gonna come get all the guns? No way Hose. As soon as they run into gun owners that will not comply, their numbers will thin very quickly.

You only need a handful of senators to ratify it. Two thirds of those present isn’t a lot.

We live with a government subject to our Constitution & our Bill of Rights, not nutty measures set by the U.N.

How long have you been living under a rock? I'm 27 and fully realize that the only roads ahead of us are subservience to either a one-world government, slaves to our own government, or a revolution violent and bloody enough that other countries will start to invade to pick up the pieces. Those are the paths I see America going down in the future. We're basically done, the only question now is how exactly we'll end up.

We need more ammo producers. Is it unusual that new producers aren’t popping up to fill the void? If Gov. limits our ability to be practice and be proficient, we’ve lost.

Obamacare is a tax bill.

Tax bills are supposed to originate in the House.

Oops.

I wouldn’t put anything past these people.

Why are you arguing with me? How about you go argue with the liberals?

I guess it depends on how you define “2/3’s of the Senate”....

A treaty, ratified by the Senate or not, cannot amend the Constitution.

Looks like "local cops" need to decide which side they're on: "We the People" or the enemies thereof.

They had better think hard on that question, since gun registration and gun confiscation laws are inherently unconstitutional and inherently violate God's laws.

They don't care about the Constitution, and they don't care about God. Where does that leave us?

I reload so I can get more velocity. I use 180’s for heavier game like elk. I have some real screaming 125 grains for varmints, but the high velocity had some keyhole effects when loaded to the max.

I prefer my .22WinMag and .223 compared to .300’s for varmints anyway.

I reload also, and just got a .300 Winnie. A month ago I could get 180 gr bullets in a wide selection (Winchester spire points, Hornady SST’s, and Nosler BT’s), but nothing lighter. I do have some old 165 gr SST’s laying around somewhere, might have to try it if I have enough powder.

I used .223’s for varmints and pop bottles. Works good to around 300 yards, but looses enough steam by then I don't like shooting anything bigger than a praire dog out farther.
