The Second Amendment got attacked this week from three sides, leaving gun owners scrambling to find safe ground. While President Obama has lost momentum for federal gun-control laws, he has picked up victories with his allies in blue states and at the United Nations.
After Thursday, Connecticut should consider changing its state nickname from the “Constitution State” to the “Unconstitutional State” after Gov. Dannel Malloy signed an extremely restrictive gun-control law. The bill passed the state House Thursday morning and the Senate on Wednesday.
Before the Newtown tragedy, the Brady Campaign determined that Connecticut was the fifth highest-rated state for restrictive gun-control laws. Adam Lanza ignored those laws — such as including stealing the guns, carrying them without a permit and violating the federal “gun free” school zone — in his evil mission to murder school children and teachers.
Connecticut lawmakers decided that its current “assault weapon” ban, which had a two-characteristic test, was not severe enough, so all semi-automatic rifles with one scary-looking feature are illegal. The bill cites 100 specific makes and models that are banned, such as the AR and AK.
There is a new eligibility certificate required before purchasing or receiving a long gun, which is defined as any firearm that is not a pistol or revolver. These certificates cost $35 and are issued by the Commissioner of Emergency Services and Public Protection, but there is no time limit on how long the application process can take. Also, buying or even transferring a long gun — such as a father passing down his shotgun to his son — requires a background check and registration. The penalty for violating this provision would be a felony.

To me, a Federal Law implementing Universal Background Checks is an outright declaration of war against law abiding citizens. It is the reason for revolution and civil war if it comes to that. Line in the sand
My, how far we've come. Apparently when this was written citizens were considered allies of the state. Now, not so much.
If you can't take them shooting, hunting or show them to freinds they do you no good.
If you have to hide them it is most likely time to use them.
Yesterday residents of CT went to bed as honest citizens. Today they woke as felons in their own homes because of new gun laws.
I am getting the same feeling I had when the 1968 Gun Control Act and the Clinton AW ban went into effect. Will the rest of us be next?

And to think, in 1962 Thomas J Dodd and Emaual Cellar proposed the first federal law on common firearms.
1962; “We don’t want to take away your guns, we ONLY want to register handguns! Rifles and shotguns will not be affected”.
1964: “We only want to register all your guns, not ban them! Only Army surplus guns will be banned.”
1968: “We only want to register your guns, and ban “Saturday Night Specials” and small foreign handguns along with army surplus rifles!” (They got the ban on 5 shot army surplus rifles and handguns and small foreign pistols)
1970: “We only want to ban Saturday night specials! Large handguns and rifles will not be affected!”
1976: “We only want to ban all handguns! Long guns will not be affected!”
1981: “The NRA is a rifle organization! They should give up their handguns, and they can keep their rifles!”- Lee Grant on GMA
1984: “We must ban “assault Rifles, unsuitable or hunting!”
1989: George Bush bans import of some foreign made “assault rifles”.
1992: Assault rifle ban passed by Clinton.
2000: first calls to ban single shot .50 cal rifles...
2012 calls for MORE bans on semi auto rifles and handguns.
And so it continues.

They can count up blue-state victories all they want, but they’re empty victories. So they won in CT and CO... big friggin’ deal. I guess they’re convinced there won’t be any economic blowback.
The government intentionally flooded the country with tens of millions of foreigners and illegals from socialist countries, who come here and demand the same socialism and handouts...
While Americans were sleeping for the past 30+ years, they became totally out numbered.
What happened to, “I’m not coming after your guns?”
I think even CT will have a tough time reelecting gun grabbers, since its a pretty bipartisan issue.
It’s like abortion with the left, they want the choice of being able to buy a gun and protect themselves.
This is why Jim Carrey is so stupid. Who’s the fat talk show lesbian host who came after Tom Selleck on guns, only to get a face full of the fact she employed an armed body guard?
