(Reuters) - The family of black teenager Trayvon Martin, who was shot to death last year by a neighborhood watch captain, has settled a wrongful death claim against the homeowners association of the Florida gated community where he was killed, a Florida newspaper reported on Friday.

Benjamin Crump, an attorney for the Martin family, filed paperwork outlining the settlement, which is thought to be more than $1 million, at a courthouse in Sanford, Florida, according to the Orlando Sentinel newspaper. Crump did not return calls for comment.

What the hell. The homeowners association of the Florida did not invite this piece of trash to walk on their property. The homeowners association of the Florida did not kill him. This punk earned his own death.

The HOA should have waited. If Z is found not guilty for the reason of self defense, they would not be liable.

Hey! Trayvon’s family finally got their blood money! Will they now instruct the Prosecution to cease their pursuit of Zimmerman?

Where does this leave the social incentive to be a good parent?

This tells us that if you are the kind of sack of excrement that allows his minor child to wander around people's backyards high on drugs on a school night, you will be richly rewarded for your contemptible parenting.

The HOA probably had no control over the settlement. Knowing how these things work, I’m sure the settlement was worked out by their insurance company.

Yes, this payoff was arranged through the HOA, the insurance company and the local politicians as a payoff to the parents, in exchange for their calls for calm when Zim-man walks later this year.

Are You referring to George Zimmerman?

George Zimmerman was In-the-Right: both to be questioning Trayvon (a suspiscious hooded figure not local to the 'hood)

and to pull his self-defense pistol as Martin had him supine and slamming the back of G3eorge's head into the sidewalk concrete.

Not necessarily. OJ received a wrongful death verdict against, even though he was found not guilty in the criminal trial.

I don't believe this.
If the losers accepted $1.95 as the settlement, the story would still be factual...
I would love to know which insurance company covered that HOA--- so I can stay as far away from them as possible...

Insurance company figured it would be cheaper to settle than to have pay damages if Zimmerman was found guilty, however unlikely that would be. The Rick Managers ran the numbers and a saw a civil jury trial, where standard of preponderance of evidence would be applied, as more dangerous than a settlement.
