Obama BLINKS: U.S. backing off shows of force against North Korea for fear of what Kim might do
godlikeproductions ^

This isn’t merely a failure of nerve, it’s a failure of intelligence and a failure to keep operational secrets. The White House had a “playbook,” agreed to by O, Hagel, and John Kerry, on how to rattle its saber at North Korea during the next crisis without rattling it so much that NK would get spooked and do something rash. E.g., first comes some B-52 flights over South Korea, then the B-2s make a cameo, then the F-22s, and so forth. Problem one: Kim’s gone further in his bellicosity than U.S. analysts expected and now they’re unsure if they know where his personal red line is. Problem two: The deployment of two destroyers last weekend to the Pacific wasn’t part of the “playbook” and wasn’t supposed to be publicized. That was a bona fide strategic move, not a show of muscle-flexing designed for North Korean and international consumption. But then the news leaked and the Navy confirmed it, which turned the deployment into an inadvertent, potentially war-sparking audible.

One screw-up on top of another, so now it’s time to cool things off before someone gets nuked

Other adversaries are watching closely....and taking notes. Weakness and lack of resolve is always noticed and exploited.

Once again we are throwing a lifeline to these idiots, when the back themselves up to the pinnacle of the cliff.

The only possible way out this idiot has without losing face or losing his life is for us to back down.

It’s unreal. Egypt, Benghazi, the Arab Winter (once known as Arab Spring), now N. Korea. One disaster after another. I thought Slow Joe Biden was supposed to be America’s number one expert on foreign issues. Thats why obama said he picked him for vp. This is like watching the Keystone Kops.

I don’t know on this one.

If you encounter a drunk in a bar or a crazy man on the street corner it is probably wise not to antagonize him.

On the other hand, you certainly are within your rights to retaliate if he hurts or attempts to hurt you.

Lil Kim is pretty unstable. He impresses me as a character from a James Bond story. Sure, thwart his game anyway you can, but again, probably not best to tease him.

Sun Tzu even Clauswitz certainly would say the battle not fought is the better deal. Fight the ones you have to when you have to.

” The deployment of two destroyers last weekend to the Pacific wasn’t part of the “playbook” and wasn’t supposed to be publicized.”

SO.... it’s not really about NK, or lil Kim, or about how many ships we sent.... it’s about the MSM and PUBLIC AWARENESS?

China could shut down this whole North Korean fiasco in ten minutes with one phone call. It is not in China’s interests to curb their own attack rat terrier.

But try to defend yourself from getting nipped in the ankles, and the Chinese could be depended upon to get all righteous and indignant about the “affront” to the domestic tranquillity that now reigns in northeast Asia.

Everything is with this crowd. It was like this when Clinton was President, too. Dems are all about the PR. It pays.

Dems are all about the PR. It pays.

Have you seen the clip of Krauthammer bringing other talking heads to complete speechless silence? Krauthammer came right out and said that Obama no longer cares about gun control as an issue that needs a solution -- Obama just wants the money. As Krauthammer went on to say, Obama does that with lots of things. It's all campaign fodder and fund-raising fuel. Nothing else matters.

Since there never was a peace treaty, the state of war has existed continually since my father fought there in the 1950's. A cease fire does not end the state of war, it is merely a pause in action.

The only positive way to end this is to actually get a peace treaty signed by all parties and end the state of war. I really don't care if the position of North Korea is that everyone else surrendered to them, but until the state of war is resolved, this will never ever end.

This is almost reminiscent of when the fist Jimmy Carter sent an aircraft carrier into the Persian Gulf during the Iran hostage taking and then recalled it so the aircraft carrier was, in effect, circling in the ocean.

It is beginning to sound like the second Jimmy Carter, Pres. Hussein, is doing the same thing.
