The Republican members of the bipartisan Senate Gang of Eight have passed the deadline for Senate Judiciary Committee ranking GOP member Sen. Chuck Grassleys request for a briefing on their coming immigration reform bill.
Last week, Grassley (R-IA) and his conservative committee colleagues Sens. Jeff Sessions (R-AL), Ted Cruz (R-TX), and Mike Lee (R-UT) wrote to Gang of Eight senators Marco Rubio (R-FL), Jeff Flake (R-AZ), John McCain (R-AZ), and Lindsey Graham (R-SC), asking them to champion a transparent immigration reform process complete with thorough hearings examining each facet of any legislation those Gang Republicans and their Democratic counterparts develop.
Because the president has failed to lead on this matter, your group has secretly met for months and not consulted with members of this Committee about major changes to our nations immigration laws, Grassley and his colleagues wrote. The time for transparency has come. Given the Majoritys rushed timetable, we believe it is time for you to discuss the status of your negotiations, disclose what concessions have been made, and provide details to members of the Judiciary Committee as well as the entire Republican Caucus.
In the letter that Grassley organized, he and his fellow Judiciary Committee conservatives asked for a briefing from the Gang GOP by the close of business on Monday April 8. "[W]e ask that your staff be made available to Republican Committee staff no later than the close of business on Monday, April 8, Grassley and the Senate Judiciary conservatives wrote. We also request that you personally discuss your group's proposal with the entire caucus early next week so that all members can raise concerns and questions before the deal is finalized."

The request for a staff briefing by today was declined, the aide said.

Thank You SARAH for screwing us over with MacPain AGAIN!
CRUZ, RUBIO. Dead to me wrt any future vote for anything!
That’s it, those guys, including Rubio MUST GO home!
Then there should not be a single unanimous consent from today till the end of the congress. Read every bill, every amendment, roll call votes on literally everything. They don’t have time for committee meetings, public markups, open debate and amendments votes, then they’ll just have to deal with an extended reading of the bill they won’t let anybody see.
Well we know that McCain and Graham are easily bamboozled by fast-talking Democrats.
So I hope that Flake and Rubio are not just as gullible.
I think Republicans need to learn that “negotiating” in secret is never, but NEVER, to America’s advantage.
As I understand it, Cruz is on opposite sides of Rubio and not in favor of anything that those people are trying to do.
Every. single. one.
Including that equivocating, I-want-it-both-ways putz Marco Rubio.
Why Cruz? He’s one of the senators asking to be briefed, not a gang (of 8) member.
Hunhhh? How does it get to be her fault. May as well blame it on Bush.
Sarah is not solely responsible for electing McLame.
She does not have a mean bone in her body and when asked to support him (I doubt she offerred) she paid her respects for him selecting her as his running mate- we wold hardly have known about her otherwise.
But I wish should would have given less of an endoursment- sort of like Reagan gave to VP George “Bousch” when he endorsed him, damning him with faint praise, I thought.
It would do Cruz and Rubio well to stay away from Graham and McCain. No good can come from anything those two grifters are involved in.
Cruz and Rubio should know that Conservatives do not mix with RINOs. McCain and Graham want an end to conservatives in the Senate. I expected better from Rubio and Cruz.
Rubio is a FOOL ,all he’s doing is creating a new recruiting/fundraising tool for the Democratics
and the Dems will try to pass it as fast as possible
you have to pass it ,before people find out what’s in it ,this is what Nana was really trying to say with Obamacare ,same goes here
Yeah. Back in the olden days we called it, "bad vibes".
Anytime a bill has the word "comprehensive" in it, you KNOW it's loaded with crap provisions that would never pass on their own merit. This bill better be DOA. Then, at least, we can be thankful that these eight Democrats have done nothing more than waste their own time while staying out of other mischief. I guess the longer they're busy with this nonsense, the better. I hope they drag in on for years.
What the hell is your problem with Cruz?
Do you understand he was a signatory to the letter asking for a briefing and NOT one of the Gang of 8?
Please, before you launch, be aware of the target!
Yes he is. He doesn't realize he's there strictly as a prop to give cover to the quislings?
Wow... Buh-bye presidential aspirations.
Reading comprehension problem? Or troll?
Your gonna have to pass it to know what’s in it. Nancy Pelosi has nothin’ on this bunch of back stabbing creeps.
Again, CRUZ IS NOT IN THE GANG OF EIGHT.
RUBIO is part of the Gang of Eight.
