The Republican members of the bipartisan Senate Gang of Eight have passed the deadline for Senate Judiciary Committee ranking GOP member Sen. Chuck Grassleys request for a briefing on their coming immigration reform bill.
Last week, Grassley (R-IA) and his conservative committee colleagues Sens. Jeff Sessions (R-AL), Ted Cruz (R-TX), and Mike Lee (R-UT) wrote to Gang of Eight senators Marco Rubio (R-FL), Jeff Flake (R-AZ), John McCain (R-AZ), and Lindsey Graham (R-SC), asking them to champion a transparent immigration reform process complete with thorough hearings examining each facet of any legislation those Gang Republicans and their Democratic counterparts develop.
Because the president has failed to lead on this matter, your group has secretly met for months and not consulted with members of this Committee about major changes to our nations immigration laws, Grassley and his colleagues wrote. The time for transparency has come. Given the Majoritys rushed timetable, we believe it is time for you to discuss the status of your negotiations, disclose what concessions have been made, and provide details to members of the Judiciary Committee as well as the entire Republican Caucus.
In the letter that Grassley organized, he and his fellow Judiciary Committee conservatives asked for a briefing from the Gang GOP by the close of business on Monday April 8. "[W]e ask that your staff be made available to Republican Committee staff no later than the close of business on Monday, April 8, Grassley and the Senate Judiciary conservatives wrote. We also request that you personally discuss your group's proposal with the entire caucus early next week so that all members can raise concerns and questions before the deal is finalized."

The request for a staff briefing by today was declined, the aide said.

Well, at least we won’t have to waste time and money campaigning against the Gang of 8 Republicans; if they get their way on amnesty the Mexicans will vote them all out for us next election anyway.
Is there ANY chance that this amnesty bill will not be passed by both houses and signed into law? The border is not secure. The illegals will not pay back taxes. I don’t care if they speak English. I don’t want to pay for their welfare and healthcare.
All I meant was I do not want to see two good conservatives be made to bow at the altar of 2 RINOS. I want them to trust in their conservative beliefs and understand that anything involving McCain and Graham will go nowhere.
I think we all know that McCain and Graham are corrupt. I like Rubio and Cruz and wish the best for them. I just don’t want to see them become like the rest.
Me too. The fix is in.
Cruz is not a part of this RINO group. He is solid on his conservative stand. Rubio has made a major blunder in getting on the bus with McCain and Gramnesty.
That old saw. Do you still think it was Sarah Palin’s endorsement of McCain that got him reelected? Do you? Because if you do, you don’t know sh*t about Arizona politics.
“Rubio is a FOOL ,all hes doing is creating a new recruiting/fundraising tool for the Democratics”
If Rubio thinks amnesty is good for conservatives and for our country, and doesn’t know that Mexicanos vote 2-to-1 for Dhimms, then he can’t count past the total of his fingers and toes.
They are in the process of proving that they are.
“Is there ANY chance that this amnesty bill will not be passed by both houses and signed into law?”
Well, consider this: on the last vote on the continuing spending resolution in the House, when some conservatives wanted to amend the CR to defund ObummerCare, Boehner refused to let it be amended thus ensuring the full funding of that communist monster.
Why wouldn’t the Weeper do it again for amnesty—straight up and down vote, with no amendments, so that liberal Republicans (like Boehner) and House Dhimms can pass it even though a majority of Republicans oppose it?
Ok SLICK, just WHAT got him re-elected?
That was all I was trying to say. Republicans do not like conservatives, McCain has made hateful remarks and he doesn’t mind showing his dislike.
I know Cruz is not in the Gang of 8 and Rubio is. I just hope that both conservatives don’t expect the republicans to help them with anything.
Democrats. We don’t have a closed primary, scooter.
I can answer that one! The voters of Arizona did. And they did that because many of them are LIVs and encumbancy has its HUGE advantages.
Sarah - not so much. But you can still hate her for whatever reason you choose.
I think he hates her because it’s fashionable. There’s a lot of that around, but it’s usually Dems that are afflicted with BDS.
My bad. They turn on us so quick now it’s hard to keep up.
“Gang of Eight senators Marco Rubio (R-FL), Jeff Flake (R-AZ), John McCain (R-AZ), and Lindsey Graham (R-SC),”
SCREW Rubio the RINO.
Yet, you tarred Cruz with the same brush as Rubio. Rubio deserved it, Cruz did not.
People read your responses and take them at face value. Thus, you should try to be more precise.
That's a fact. I appreciate Gaffer's post #35.
I am betting the RINO Crowd has made a deal with Rubo.
You screw over the Conservatives with us and we will make sure you are handed the Nomination come 16.
That is Rubio’s only play here. He thinks he is gonna win over the Illegals because of his ethnicity. Boy, is he in for a rude awakening.
By then the Left can claim they got the Criminal invaders free entry, housing, child care with pre 5 schooling, health care, medicare and medicade, SSI and citizenship. What you gonna bling em with Marco? Oh I helped. Please!
He's not that stupid. He sides with the GOPe for the same reason as the rest do. They know this House of Cards is about to come crumbling down but they think they are in the 'protected' class. Hold on to your hat.
