Just a few minutes after the lights dimmed and the credits rolled, Chinese censors on Thursday yanked Quentin Tarantino's "Django Unchained" from cinemas around the country.
A Shanghai cinema company posted to its official Weibo account this morning that screenings of the film would be delayed indefinitely for "technical reasons." The cinema announced it would reimburse viewers who had already bought tickets.
China’s State Administration for Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) is notorious for its heavy censorship, but filmgoers couldn't remember an occasion when a film was pulled during its premiere.

I refuse to see the movie....snuff films don't appeal to me. Plus Jamie Foxx is a racist.
I enjoy knowing the liberal movie makers may lose a ton of money, though.
It is a racist piece of filfth....they had this movie on the Walmart shelves here in North Georgia......I honestly don’t think one of them was sold..
....and yet Hollyweird constantly tell us violence in movies doesn’t affect peoples real world behavior......
In a way the same thing happens in America.
If NBC determines that a news story makes Sarah Palin look good they will either censor it or make sure another point of view is expressed.
If NBC determines that a news story makes Barack Obama look good, well it’s just presented without commentary.
So... what was a movie intended to do that
shows a black vigilante killing a bunch of white people?
Maybe the Chinese officials wanted to prevent anyone from getting the idea of repeating this incident from last summer...

It is revenge fantasy involving the slave uprising and killing of Southern slaveowning white males.
China doesn’t want it’s people getting the idea of freedom.
And it reminds viewers that the slave-owning mentality lives on in the person of the GOP, and that Baraq Huessein Obama is the Django of today.
It reinforces that lie, yes.
Worth constantly repeating: the GOP freed the slaves - and the Democrats will go to any lengths to keep the slaves on the vote-plantation.
Did they deserve killin’? ‘Cause there are folks who deserve killin’ black and white.
That’s actually a valid defense in Texas, I’ve heard.

Actually, I appreciate the unintentional hilarity of this, because the Chinese censors have instantly guaranteed that Django will become so heavily pirated in China that more Chinese will see it than ever read Mao’s little red book.
In just a few weeks, pirate copies will be like leaves in a forest in fall. Unedited pirate copies.
And while Americans see things in that movie that are a recognizable corruption of their history, what the Chinese will see will be things that are completely, absolutely different.
I can guarantee that almost no Americans will have a clue as to the ramifications of this on the Chinese psyche.
However, even I can tell that it is going to be Earth shaking to the Chinese mindset. About on a par to giving an entire country a big dose of LSD, all at once.
An important note. The Chinese really have no grasp of the American Civil War, except from weak, liberal and corrupted musings written perhaps 100 years after the fact.
A big reason is because while the US Civil War was happening, China was caught up in its own civil war that was 10 times as large, and lasted 14 years.
The Taiping Rebellion.
American estimates are that some 20 million Chinese died; British estimates are from 30-40 million. Mostly with swords and spears, some muskets and artillery. After some of their pitched battles, it was reported that an area of 5 square miles was so littered with human and horse bodies that you could not walk on bare ground.
It was started when some Christian missionaries gave a religious tract to the wrong psychopath. An amazingly charismatic psychopath. He briefly looked at it, then said, “This Jesus Christ... I am his younger brother!”
In any event, while we were fighting our fellow Americans, the Chinese had their minds on other things.
What the Chinese will do when they see this movie is pretty much beyond even guessing.
