NY SAFE Act: ANY healthcare provider or local official can turn you for firearms confiscation
Fox News Channel (NO LINK) | 4/11/13

Posted on 04/11/2013 10:24:10 AM PDT by pabianice

Now reporting on the NY Lewis case in which a gun owner had his guns and LTC confiscated.

As the facts emerge, it is much worse than we thought. The state SAFE Act cancels the federal HIPPA Act (Surprise!), which is supposed to keep your health info private. No one has yet admitted who supplied to the NY State Police information that at some time Lewis took a mood leveling medicine. The REALLY scary part is that under SAFE, any "healthcare provider" -- physician, nurse, physical therapist, personal care assistant, pharmacy technician, LPN, elder day care visitor -- can turn you in to the state as unfit to own a firearm. Once named, you have no right to appeal.

Also according to the Fox report, Lewis' lawyer is already reporting that what happened to Lewis is happening to other clients.

And today Senate Republicans blessed Reid's plan to pass Obama's gun registration --> confiscation plans by banning the "transfer" of firearms among citizens. Of course, the House will surely save us. /S

That procedure, was a vote cast to bring the bill to the floor for debate...Not a vote for passing or rejection...Yet...

I was just listening to AM'ers talking about that move on radidio .... it was effectively the GOP's only chance to prevent the bill's getting over to the House and putting the House GOP on the spot.

[Vote for the chiillllldren, it's for the chiiiillllldrennn! </off Obamapuke>]

I don't think it will pass the House, or give Obama the issue he wants next year to get the House back [for the chilllrun! .... the iddy biddy chillllrunn!!], but we're going to have the experience now of a maximal attempt by Obama and his MSM lickspittles to take out an article of the Bill of Rights with pure propaganda.

They wouldn't be trying this, except for the queer wins on antimarriage, that persuade them that "propaganda plus turning up the volume to '11' will get you anywhere you want".

It would have been preferable for some GOP senators to have grown a notochord at least, if not a spine. (That might be asking too much.)

Ohhhhh, you had a point???

I know it must have been a struggle for you since you only have two brain cells to rub together to formulate any sort of cognative thought process, much less combine that process with say...

breathing...

Seek life and entertainment elsewhere, you bore me...

I don’t see any other state passing a SAFE Act like piece of legislation???

So explain to me why you believe Conservative Americans, in general, are complicite in this wave of un-Constitutional laws in NY (spit), CO and CT??? Not to mention those other states frothing at the bit to do the same...

Of course we actually see Colorado and Connecticut trailing a close second and third when it comes to passing feel-good, do-nothing, restrictions upon the law abiding in those states, so yeah, it seems to be spreading somewhat, in certain similar ways...

I do know that there are a few states that will not fall into this trap...

Uh Ohhhhh, be careful...There are some knuckle draggers in here that might take offense at your declaration...

Never mind the fact that it is there mess to clean up...

If they have the political courage...But, alas, we are left with the lowest common denominator with words like “asshole” etc etc etc...

That is their knee-jerk [emphasis added] vernacular when it comes to people pointing out the obvious short-comings in their state...

But hey, no body is perfect...;-)

HIPAA was made to protect the privacy of a patient’s medical records.

you need a /sarc tag on this statement. The point of HIPAA was to open your medical records to every government drone. The government can't violate HIPAA because it doesn't really limit what the government can see in or do with our medical records.

I didn’t say conservatives are complicit, you did.

I added my name to the lawsuit filed by Jim Tresmond in Buffalo.

I also personally sent my message to King Andrew by selling off a crapload of unused stuff and buying 4 rifles and 3000 rounds of ammo between Dec and March. Judging by what’s happening on Congress, I think they got my message.

(Ok, so what were you implying then??? Obviously you’ll say I assumed, and that could be implied...B ut you did say Americans...I do not consider liberal/Fabian socialists to be Americans in my opinion...)

I added my name to the lawsuit filed by Jim Tresmond in Buffalo.

(Doesn’t mean anything, are you expecting to get something out of this??? I’m only asking, not implying...)

I also personally sent my message to King Andrew by selling off a crapload of unused stuff and buying 4 rifles and 3000 rounds of ammo between Dec and March. Judging by what’s happening on Congress, I think they got my message.

(Ok, so you were part of the “new” wave of panic purchasers, expecting your aquisitions to send some sort of message to the powers at be...Ok, I can dig it...Welcome to the party...I hope you get to keep your stuff then...)

What my skeptisism and critical opinions of the state of affairs in NY is based totally on the fact that this is a bad they have made, and for now have to lay in it...I have my doubts to the resolve of anyone in that state doing ANYTHING to correct this at the ballot box...And that is first and foremost where it needs to happen...Stocking up on the essentials is a good thing, yet, I see too many people pontificating when they should be preparing and committed to throwing these scum out on their asses when the time comes...

If anyone has to go to gun to effect change, everyone will lose...It is best to keep this battle in the legislatures and courts, which is where I have been saying it needs to stay for years...

Bottom line, I just don’t see it happening for those living there...If it does, I will be a very happy person for those in that state...I wish them luck in the process...

how many anti-second amendment lawyers would report on their principle alone?

If a lawyers is a member of the (voluntary organization) ABA, it is not a positive.
