War Against the Young
National Review ^ | 4/9/13 | Victor Davis Hansen

Posted on 04/14/2013 10:46:46 AM PDT by goodnesswins

“What’s the matter with Kansas?” syndrome of young people voting against their economic interests. Thus follows the constant courting of the hip and cool Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Lena Dunham, Occupy Wall Streeters, and others who blend pop culture, sex, youth, energy, and fad — almost anything to avoid the truth that today’s teenagers are starting out each owing a lifetime share of the national debt amounting to more than three-quarters of a million dollars. Those who ran up the debt enjoyed the borrowing, but won’t be around to pay back their proverbial fair share.

Actually, he was most famous for his defense of the town of Osawatomie before he became really famous at Harper's Ferry.

Actually, the young do not need anyone to wage war against them. By worshiping obama, hitching their plow to his star, and overwhelming voting for him in two consequitive elections, they are doing a pretty good job of doing themselves in.

August 1856, a nearly 5 years before the April 12, 1861 official start date of CW1.

Interesting history to learn.

As is this:

"Pro-slavery Southerners in Kansas Territory painted all Free-Staters as abolitionists in order to motivate the South's opposition. However, Eli Thayer and other New England Company leaders denied that they were seeking to abolish slavery, and the failed Topeka Constitution drafted by the Free-Staters in 1855 would have excluded any black person – slave or free – from settling in Kansas."

I have looked through the text of the Topeka Constitution and have been unable to locate any such provision. Here’s the only use of the word “negro” in the text. The words “black” and “colored” are not found.

“Sec. 21. No indenture of any negro or mulatto, made and executed out of the bounds of the State, shall be valid within the State.”

Here’s a link to the text:

If you can find the provision to which you refer, I’d like to see it.

It is also fair to point out that this anti-black attitude was most definitely not Old John Brown’s POV.

The competing pro-slavery constitution had this lovely clause:

“23. Free negroes shall not be permitted to live in this State under any circumstances.”

Is it not the same provision referred to by the link you just provided?

Kind of silly to call it a war against the young, when the young are the ones most solidly voting for the pols implementing and defending the policies.

There’s more, lots more: Reagan shortened the life of my patents. Newt raised the price on them so now I have to rent them rather than owning them. Bush 41 restricted the re-import of our own surplus military small arms making the surplus firearms business almost disappear. Bush 43 blew fedearl spending all-to-bleep making it easy for Obamuzzie to spend us into oblivion-—I don’t need no more steenkeeng clever Republican theeenkeeng.

the young are the ones most solidly voting for the pols implementing and defending the policies.

How did that happen?

"According to my opinion, and the opinions of many defectors of my caliber, only about 15% of time, money, and manpower is spent on espionage as such. The other 85% is a slow process which we call either ideological subversion, active measures, or psychological warfare. What it basically means is: to change the perception of reality of every American that despite of the abundance of information no one is able to come to sensible conclusions in the interest of defending themselves, their families, their community, and their country.

It's a great brainwashing process which goes very slow and is divided into four basic stages.

The first stage being "demoralization".

It takes from 15 to 20 years to demoralize a nation. Why that many years? Because this is the minimum number of years required to educate one generation of students in the country of your enemy exposed to the ideology of [their] enemy. In other words, Marxism-Leninism ideology is being pumped into the soft heads of at least 3 generation of American students without being challenged or counterbalanced by the basic values of Americanism; American patriotism.

Most of the activity of the department [KGB] was to compile huge amount / volume of information, on individuals who were instrumental in creating public opinion.  Publisher, editors, journalists, uh actors, educationalists, professors of political science.  Members of parliament, representatives of business circles..."

“Given a choice between gay marriage, legalization of pot, and the banning of so-called assault rifles on the one hand, and, on the other, a good job with lower taxes, most young people will quietly prefer the latter. For that reason, conservatives should not outbid liberals to appear cool to new voters, but simply explain that a fair economy for all generations is no longer on the liberal agenda.”

I agree our message must be for a fair economy. We must define fairness on the grounds of equality of opportunity.

Found it.

One of the electoral districts petitioned the Convention to incorporate in the Topeka Constitution a provision that blacks and mulattoes be excluded from the state. This was rejected by the Convention, but allowed to be voted on at the same time as the Constitution, I guess as a sort of referendum. So it never was in the actual text.

The referendum, or whatever it was, passed 2:1. I suppose at that time it became a law, or it would have once the Constitution was approved by Congress, which of course it never was.

The Constitution of 1859, which, much amended, is still the KS Constitution, has no such racial provision. The words black, colored, negro or mulatto do not appear in it. However, as was pretty standard at the time, suffrage and militia membership was limited to white males.

Lots of my fellow Gen Yers are this way because they simply don’t know any better.

Cold War was a faint memory as tykes, raised on a gluttonous diet of empty “You’re all a winner” platitudes, and the dot-com boom with all kinds of fancy new technology.

Sure the educational system is garbage, but a lot of kids didn’t have parents that cared at home, so long as they got good grades so they can be vicariously successful through their kids. Others were simply too immature getting high or drunk to bother parenting.

I think there’s a general sinking feeling that they’ve been lied to for so long, but it’s hard to tell whether certain individuals will accept that or live in denial by voting for more Obammunism.

The debt could be paid down a lot, by the government selling off its considerable assets of land and mineral rights, etc. to private concerns, and using the proceeds to pay it down.

Of course it would take someone with common sense to do that, fat chance.

Remember this saying?

“When you are 20 and is not a liberal, you have no heart. When you are 40 and is not a conservative, you have no brain.”
