Woman indicted for murder over road rage shooting has case delayed

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A woman indicted for murder over a road rage shooting had her case delayed Monday.

Crystal Scott was supposed to make her first court appearance, but her attorney says the judge reset the case to give the defense more time to investigate.

Scott says she and Jonathan Ables were in a fender bender in September 2012. Scott says Ables beat on her window, then opened her door.

Scott has a concealed handgun license and says she feared for her life when she shot and killed Ables.

"It was man against a young woman. A fight that she felt like she would never be able to overcome. She did what she had the right to do and that is to protect herself," said defense attorney Letitia Quinones.

Ables' family says that they do not agree with Scott's story and that Ables' alleged actions were not in his nature.

Scott's new court date is April 4. ______________________________________

The most advisable thing to do, in this situation, is get as much information as possible and wait for the police, if the cars are not drivable.

Men are the agressors. Women are the innocent victims. Next case.

That goes double when the woman is black and the man white.

He would have left prints or something collectible if he did pound on her window, you would think....

The Grand Jury returned a charge of murder but she was given a month to get it together for a plea.

Now it turns out that the BGI wants to turn this into another Trayvon Martin case.

Pounding on somone’s window justifies murdering them, pounding someone’s head into the concrete doesn’t. Depending upon the race of the pounder/poundee.

I have a young lady friend who was stopped in traffic and a guy tried to get into her car.

She just showed him the gun and he split real fast.

I don’t know all the facts in this case, but if she shot while the door was still closed I think she has a problem. Just as I would if I shot someone through my front door trying to break in. Once the door is open, all bets are off and blast away.

She did -- and then got out of her vehicle as he was backing away from her first shot through the window and put two bullets in his chest. It took 5 months but the GJ indicted her for murder. The judge gave her a month to enter a plea -- which was due on April 4th but I have seen nothing yet.

Not if she shot the window out.

They'd still be on the glass and recoverable. The thing is, who pounds on a window - - or anything - - with an open hand?

Thanks for that link. No fingerprints there. I wonder what the dead man’s passenger has to say?

Looking at the photos in the article he parked his truck awful far a way for someone supposedly in a rage, you expect that his vehicle would be right up next to hers if he was over the edge angry. Maybe he was tapping the glass, whatever because she was ignoring him. Did anyone see anything in the photos that would have kept her from driving away instead of killing him?

He said that Ables was going over to her vehicle to exchange insurance information as Texas law requires be done after an accident.

My question would be why she would be still sitting in her car with door locked and windows up if you just got into an accident and the law requires you to exchange insurance information -- unless maybe she didn't have insurance and knew that she was in trouble because of that.

You read that a lot about that neighborhood or any neighborhood in America? Is this rare story your argument against gun rights?

...unless maybe she didn't have insurance and knew that she was in trouble because of that.

Or, more likely, she was drunk, drugged up, or high on "purple drank".

I'll let the jury decide if he was in the right or wrong...BUT...his female friend is not guilty.
