Rand Paul Defends Immigration Reform: 'I've Got A News Flash' For Coulter And Limbaugh
YouTube ^ | Mar 21, 2013 | Rand Paul

Posted on 04/17/2013 9:00:54 AM PDT by SoConPubbie

Confronted with critical quotes from Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh on Fox News Thursday morning, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) stood firm on his immigration reform stance and fired back at anyone who would try to question his resolve.

After Paul explained his stance on border security, the conversation shifted to undocumented immigrants who are already in the country. Fox host Bill Hemmer said, "you know you're a ripe target for the word amnesty," and then played clips of what media figures like Coulter and Limbaugh have been saying about the senator since he indicated his openness to a "pathway to citizenship."

"People like Coulter and Limbaugh say people like you are being suckered into an agreement here," Hemmer added. "What they argue is that conservative principles should not be sacrificed here, it's that the Republican message has been lost in the process. What would you say to that?"

Paul was eager to jump in and defend himself, saying "I've got a news flash for those who want to call people names on amnesty. What we have now is de facto amnesty." He explained, "We have 11 million people here that have been here, some of them for a decade or more. No one is telling them to go home. No one is sending them home."

“I guess I’m left with Cruz.”

Paul and Cruz have the exact same position on this issue.

Rand, the feral government refuses to enforce current federal immigration law. The feral government has a history of this behavior. There is absolutely no reason to believe they will enforce your "border security" provisions.

FURP.

No, it’s not.

“The part that I’ve got deep concerns about is any path to citizenship for those who are here illegally. I think that is profoundly unfair to the millions of legal immigrants who have followed the rules, who have waited in line.”-Ted Cruz to Sean Hannity.

Quit parsing words BC.

Care to share a link with everyone where Senator Ted Cruz has either proposed or supports Amnesty like Rand Paul does with his plan to "Normalize" 2 million Illegal Aliens each and every year?

What part of his statement you don’t agree with?

You don’t think there’s a defacto amnesty? You think Obama is doing a good job?

Oh please!

Rand Paul supports Amnesty, pure and simple.

That's why he is a Jack Ass!

There is a big difference between having rats in the cellar and putting out food for them.

Wait a minute there soy..Are you suggesting the employers in red states like Texas don't reward millions of illegals by hiring them and paying them?

Lets cut the bull sh*t.

“I guess I’m left with Cruz.” Paul and Cruz have the exact same position on this issue.

Like battered wives, the Republicans know we'll rush out to vote for them anyway, no matter what - "or the other guy will win."
They keep abusing their base, and then instill the fear of a democrat winning if we don't support them when an election comes around.

Amnesty will be a kick in our face, but they know we'll still vote for them with open arms and kisses in 2014. They do this to us all the time.

Paul is good on budget issues.

But pushing amnesty and homosexual/lesbian marriages are bright line tests for me.

I cannot support him.

Rand Paul: I didn’t back faster path to citizenship

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/post-politics/wp/2013/03/19/rand-paul-advisers-say-he-didnt-back-faster-path-to-citizenship/

Lots of misreporting out there. Erick Erickson notes: “I have read the entirety of Rand Paul’s speech. I have spoken directly to the Senator. No where in his speech does he use the word ‘citizenship...’ Rand Paul is not calling for citizenship... Feel free to disagree with Senator Paul if you must. Just don’t claim he’s pursuing a path to citizenship.

I repeat: Rand and Cruz have the exact same position on this issue. And Cruz has endorsed everything Rand has said so far.

What we have now is a policy of non enforcement, which is de-facto amnesty.

Enforce existing laws!

Oh, please. A path to legalization, which Paul supports, IS AMNESTY. Cruz doesn’t support it.

You've been taken for a sucker.

I found McCain and Romney both repulsive. I didn't like either one, but I voted against Oboma. The Republican elites counted on people like me to vote against rather than for..
Never again. Let the chips fall where they may. My conscience will be clean this time. The American people will get what they deserve.
The Republicans are doing this to themselves. I didn't leave the party. The party left me.

You're not being honest either with yourself or other posters here at FreeRepublic.

Amnesty does not necessarily equate with Amnesty.

In other words: there is NOT a 1 to 1 correlation between granting Citizenship and Amnesty.

From Merriam-Webster.com:

Definition of AMNESTY

: the act of an authority (as a government) by which pardon is granted to a large group of individuals .

Rand Paul wants to "Normalize" or legalize all the Illegal Aliens in this country at the rate of 2 million Illegal Invaders a year.

They do not have to be punished according to current laws for breaking into this country and they certainly, according to Rand Paul's plan, have to serve the time required for committing the felony of ID Fraud which many of them have done.

So let's be honest with each other, we are conservatives.

Rand Paul is simply using rhetoric and weasel words to cover up the fact that he wants to grant Amnesty to all the Illegal Aliens in this country.

Futhermore, you need to back up your false claim that Senator Ted Cruz's position is exactly the same as Rand Pauls'.

I bet you can't!

You don’t think there’s a defacto amnesty? You think Obama is doing a good job?

His "solution" is to replace "defacto amnesty" with ACTUAL amnesty. He does NOT want to complete the border fence. He is AGAINST E-Verify. He said anyone is welcome in America "if you want to work". He claims (as does Rubio) illegals won't get welfare benefits - but they do ALREADY. 57% of illegals NOW collect at least one form of welfare, any children they have here are automatically CITIZENS (hence "anchor babies") and the entire family becomes eligible for SSI, food stamps and WIC. ALL OF THIS HAPPENS before any of thise "pay fines and taxes, learn english, obey the law, secure the border" nonsense. I repeat: Rand Paul is an assclown.

So his idea is to reward “illegal Aliens” just because they have been here for whatever length of time? I don’t think they should ever have a path for Citizenship! We have heard this crap before, if we just let these folks have a free get out of jail card the problem will go away. How’s that worked so far Rand?, Marco? The answer is it does not work! Fist step is close the border period! Nothing else should be done until that is done.

Are you a Paul staffer? Erickson said that RIGHT AFTER the Paul speech, in response to his OMITTING "path to citizenship" from that speech, despite it having been present in the printed remarks he had released to the AP before it.

But in his media interviews he said it: "After the speech, however, Paul again confirmed, while speaking to reporters, that under his plan, illegal immigrants would ultimately be able to apply for citizenship after a long and complex process.”

But then ya turn around and say ya voted for people who are repulsive and have no problem betraying and lying to ya.

Like I said, you've been had...Hoodwinked.

They're all riding in the same limo...It takes some people many years to figure this conjob out.

"no one is telling them to go home," maybe no one in the government but plenty of those of us out here in the country (you know "we the people," Rand, ole boy), we've been screaming for it for decades!

You people, you know OUR EMPLOYEES, refuse to what we've asked, pleaded, begged for you to do because you have given yourselves the only power to do this job!

We even formed groups, you know Rand, groups called Minute Men like our forefathers did.

What happened to that, Rand, you people, our employees, called them/us illegal militias, hatemongers and racists! Then you people told them/us to do what they were doing was "illegal!"

So now, Rand, you people, our employees, tell us what "we're not going to do," i.e., send the, home?p>Lastly, Rand, you sought TEA Party support and money to get elected. Now that you're there for a six-year term, you tell your supporters, that you didn't really mean what you ran on, you really support the millions of illegal aliens who had no part in electing you, people who are only taking millions of our tax dollars, like you are, Rand, these are the people you really care about.

Thanks a lot, Rand.
