Eleanor Clift: Newtown Families and Gabby Giffords Will Be More Powerful Than the NRA
Newsbusters ^ | April 13, 2013 | Noel Sheppard

Posted on 04/18/2013 7:27:29 AM PDT by upchuck

"The Newtown families and Gabby Giffords are in the gun debate to stay, and over time their voices will be more powerful than the NRA."

So said Newsweek's Eleanor Clift during the predictions segment on PBS's McLaughlin Group Friday...

"The culture of guns is beginning to go through a transformation in this country," she added.

Maybe she should say that with a straight face to the people of Chicago so riddled with the kind of gun violence pending legislation will have absolutely no impact on whatsoever.

But nobody seems to care about that - certainly not media members such as Clift.

Tis far more important to restrict gun ownership of law-abiding citizens.

Indeed—I, for one, have grown quite weary of the Newtown families and Gabby Giffords.

I suspect I’m not alone.

Obama is the best gun salesman in US history.
The only thing that p*sses me off about it is you know those progressive b@stards have invested heavily in firearms companies and are making money off of it.

Abortions have killed many millions more than the so-called ‘gun culture’. But I bet Eleanor and Gabby both support abortion at any gestational stage for any reason.

Anyone with half a brain knows that Newtown families and Gabby do not even get close to trumping a post-2nd Amendment potential for another Holocaust, 50 million WWII dead, millions of dissidents murdered in China, or the killing fields of Cambodia.

Clift is assuming the MSM will be the only medium to deliver a message.

She wants to spin/propaganda the message.

Bloomberg has his entire radio/news/media empire paying out ulimited money. She needs the job.

The MSM should not have this type of coctail party job security.

The medium is the message.
the MSM is the medium
the message is against second amendment civil rights
the MSM is against second amendment civil rights

take it further

Americans have civil rights
the MSM is against civil rights
the MSM is against americans

the medium is the message.

"The culture of guns is beginning to go through a transformation in this country," she added.

You got that right. Women are embracing firearms in record numbers. They are joing the NRA and other firearm rights organizations in droves. People in general understand they need to fight for their firearm rights and they are engaging in record numbers. Consider the shortage of firearms and ammunition due to the massive demand. Look around firearm ranges these days. Lots of women and parents with their children. Yep the culture is being transformed!

Yeah. She is not getting the pro-gun messages on FB that I am. People are fed up with these nuts and they are not going to take it any more. They are talking revolution if this continues.

There are two kinds of gun control advocates; The ‘low information’ and the ‘true believer.’

The ‘low information’ gun control advocates don’t really know anything about guns. They just repeat whatever sound bite or pithy factoid they’ve heard lately. They are either scared of guns or simply don’t like them, don’t know why anyone would want to own a real gun, and wish guns would just go away. While they may not necessarily intend for everyone’s guns to be confiscated they would most likely say ‘Well, it’s probably for the best,’ and go along with it.

The ‘true believer’ gun control advocates have one simple goal: To make the private possession of any firearm a felony. Period. They want to confiscate every gun not controlled by the government. Some simply hate guns while others see privately held guns as an ‘impediment’ to some other goal or plan. They will take as many years as necessary to achieve this goal, decades even. They are nothing if not patient. They will never stop. When they grow too old to continue they will pass on the job to the next generation of ‘true believers.’

This bill’s defeat is simply a battle in an ongoing war.

Gun rights advocates must remain forever vigilant.

Back before 1968, the MSM and politicians had two targets they wanted to ban. 5 shot bolt action army surplus rifles and “Saturday night specials”.

When Bobby Kennedy was murdered, they went whole hog with the 1968 Gun Control Act.

When the smoke finally cleared, they had a law that banned the evil rifles and handguns, along with a requirement to fill out paperwork when you bought one from a dealer, and a few other onerous things.

They were so thrilled with what they got, they didn’t even notice that the very gun used to kill Bobby Kennedy was not banned.

5 shot bolt action police rifles, the same style as army surplus rifles, were still legal.
Foreign gun companies began to send parts to the US for assembly here.
US made firearms were not affected.

So it was with this law. It did nothing to prevent future Newtowns, so what was the purpose? To get their anti-gun foot in the door so they could move against their REAL target..HANDGUNS!

It has always been about handguns. Assault rifles are just a decoy to try and get their anti-gun foot in the door.

Once they get a ban on AWs then they will use the same reasons to go after handguns.

John Kennedy killed with a 5 shot bolt action rifle.

Officer Tippit killed with a 6 shot revolver.

Charles Whitman, killed 14, wounded 32 others mostly with a bolt action 6mm hunting rifle. Also used a shotgun and an m1 carbine.

Medgar Evers, shot with a 5 shot 1917 bolt action Enfield rifle.

Martin Luther King, shot with a 4 shot Remington 760 pump action Gamemaster rifle.

Bobby Kennedy with a .22 Iver Johnson Cadet revolver.

George Wallace wounded with a 5 shot Charter Arms .38spl revolver.

Howard Johnsons shooter (Mark Essex) killed nine, wounded thirteen with a 4 shot RUGER .44 mag Deerslayer rifle.

Gerald Ford attacked with a 7 shot 1911 semi auto.

Edmond OK post office with two National Guard 7 shot 1911 pistols.

SF mayor Moscone and his homo toadie killed with a 6 shot revolver.

John Lennon murdered with a 5 shot Charter Arms revolver.

Ronald Reagan and Jim Brady with an RG-14 .22 revolver.

Ronald Gene Simmons: killed sixteen people. Strangled half his family, shot the other half with a .22 single action six shot revolver.

What do they all have in common? NONE over 7 rounds, yet after each one came a cry of panic to ban all of them.

“Assault weapons... are a new topic. The weapons’ menacing looks, coupled with the public’s confusion over fully-automatic machine guns versus semi-automatic assault weapons — anything that looks like a machine gun is assumed to be a machine gun — can only increase the chance of public support for restrictions on these weapons.”

“Gun culture” is another of the sleight of hand phrases used by the left, like “guns are OK for hunting and home defense.”

It’s not a gun culture, oh chinless one. It’s an individual liberty culture. Any other approach is a lie.
