Two pals of the accused Boston Marathon bombers were pulled from their New Bedford, Mass. home and taken into custody on Saturday.

The two men, known to neighbors by their first names Azmat and Diaz — who share a black BMW SUV adorned with a novelty license plate that reads “Terrorista #1” — were cuffed and hauled out of their Carriage Dr. apartment shortly before 4 p.m.

- Replace all of the Secret Service, FBI, NSA, HLS, ATF, and the CIA personnel with Mafia, MOSSAD, and NASCAR middle-aged mellowing pros -

Give them Lincoln welders (always more effective than jumper cables) and pay them very well to stomp out crime and catch and dispose of terrorists

No more civilian trials; clean up Chicago and Detroit

We will save a ton of money and have the fastest police cars in the universe that can also deliver the very best Italian food in 30 seconds or less

Lucky Luciano was effective in WWII

- and think of the sponsor money and colorful graphics on the cars!

The FBI is not monolithic. Someone - who knows at what level but from his area was sent to ask him some questions. The conclusion was, he did not pose a threat of terrorism, in 2011. The interview was done at the request of a foreign country (best bet, Russia). So just because he had been asked some questions does not mean there’s an FBI generated photo of him by his name and all they need is to punch some button on a computer and voila, his name and picture come up. And remember, nothing was found wrong. Cough, cough. And remember, he is Muslim. Can’t be found keeping records on innocent Muslims now, can we? Hmmmmm??

Maybe there’s a connection to the Mexican cartels explaining the use of Spanish on the license plate and the name Diaz. This is just pure speculation but as long as the border remains open, it’s bound to happen sooner or later.

Um, there’s a MUCH bigger issue with that “Terrorista #1” license plate that no one is mentioning:

It’s not an MA vanity plate, at all. It looks like it’s a mass-produced, and possibly sanctioned and licensed, UMASS Dartmouth promotional product.

WTF????

I think the plate itself is mass produced, but probably stick on letters like you get at FastSign’s shops were applied to that blank plate.

Notice the font style of the “Terrorista #1” does not match the font for the “UMass Dartmouth” lettering.

Diaz is used as a last name by Hispanics, not a first name

Indeed. Apparently what happened is that in Kazakhstan for whatever reason the heroics of Jose Diaz became popular to the extent that parents started naming their children after him. The ending "z" became softened to "s" and what was the last name became the first name.

To your 44: Also, the family lived in Kahzistahn

I don't know what "Kahzistahn" is.

The family of the Tsarnaev brothers lived in Kirghizia, but ethnically they are either Chechen or Ossetin or a mix of the two. Azmat and Diaz, judging by my limited onomastic research are from Kazahkstan. However, bear in mind that all these countries were a part of the Soviet Union about 20 years ago. The language of communication between diverse Muslim peoples remains Russian and many lives were mixed up geographically during the Stalin's brutal regime. That two Chechen brothers lived in Kirghizia and befriended fellow Muslims from Kazhakhstan is not surprising, it is like, for example, two Latinos from different countries of origin in South America get together in the States.

Could be, but bizarre as it appears, Diaz/Dias is a known first name in Kazakhstan.

"Terrorista" is not really "use of Spanish"; it is an internationally recognized word and the suspect probably thought that the ending -a makes it sound more sinister, or funny, -- who knows. Or maybe "terrorist" was already taken. What is Obama's license plate?

Someone mentioned on a thread that terrosista #! was a character (?) or some such thing from a video game.

The fonts match. Note the open loop of the a's, or how the middle curve of the s's is thinned out in both texts, and also the overall heavy, boxy character of the letters.

The "terrorista" part is certainly not a cheap stick-on: observe the similar contours around letters that make the letters appear three-dimensional in both texts. I can't tell if the "terrorista" actually is raised from the plate surface or merely appears so. Regardless of what technology produced that plate -- whether glue or stamp was used, -- the letters are produced by the same outfit as the plate. I think, it is possible that someone at Dartmouth made many short batches of these decorative plates: some, probably, said "USA #1" (very popular decorative plate, as you know) and some said "terrorista #1".

OK. The font shape did not look the same to me.

It could have been screen printed too.

But the outlined “Terrorista” lettering would make that less likely.

Multiple screens and dry time would be an issue.

I cannot imagine a mass market for that tag.

It may be a coincidence but if you go to:
