Yes, but for untrained peons a single seven round magazine suffices...

“It would have been fair for the city (i.e., the taxpayers) to pay all of their medical bills and buy them a new truck, including the sales tax, property tax, insurance, and registration fees. However, that’s it. Anything more than that is a shakedown—paid for, of course, by those of us who earn our own way and pay an extortionate amount of taxes to fund such windfalls.”

You are so wrong, I really just don’t know where to begin.

Firstly, I think that given that the system won’t let the individual idiots be punished here,a few BILLION dollars would be “fair”. That way, the taxpayers, who would absolutely feel it in the wallet, would revolt over these nut jobs with badges.

Secondly, what were these people doing? WORKING, for which they were rewarded with injury and a destroyed truck. Do you think they should write off their lost time and business as a gift to Los Angeles, or just as a “cost of living”?

Thirdly, getting shot is not a paper cut. This was no doubt pretty traumatic, and there will be lasting effects on these people.

Good, now try the “cops” for attempted murder

After this, they should take the cop's guns away from them, or at least do a background check on them and maybe have them apply for a permit to carry a gun in public. What goes around comes around. They can't be trusted with guns that shoot poor little old ladies.

Do you think firing all those rounds at an innocent bystander would possibly get a citizen in a bit of trouble and perhaps impact their ability to own and purchase a gun?

Why are we holding citizens, without the tens of thousands of dollars of expert training, to a higher standard than “professionals”??

“mistakenly opened fire on them “

There was no mistake about it. The trigger happy psychopath fired on them for absolutely no reason. Hell, the truck wasn’t even the right make or model or color and they were looking for a man and not two women.

Perhaps the were afraid of a lethal newspaper. They should be fired and jailed for ADW. A “civilian” that fired once would be.

If you are that afraid...get another job.

"LAPD officers blasted at least 100 rounds at their pickup."

Interesting evidence in re. training and education.

That photo of the truck, does not show the extent of the incompetence and ill will of the police.

The police carelessly, recklessly, and with premediation, shot up BOTH SIDES OF THE TRUCK, and they attempted to KILL TWO PEOPLE.

As you can see, in the story posted to FR:

Women shot during LAPD ex-cop manhunt had no warning, lawyer says

The more accurate pic, there, with true day-lighting, at the first reply (by FRPR "Red Badger").

This picture clearly shows the right side of the truck.

The image that you posted, is an attempt by the police to diminish the lighting and make up an appearance that they were ONLY after one person, the driver.

A just outcome would see all those officers fired and barred for life from government jobs and convicted as felons. And personally liable for a significant sum in damages.

Let them work making the donuts.

The policemen involved should be charged wit two counts of attempted MURDER, if nothing else..............If it were you or I doing the shooting, WE would be..........;.
