That’s the Communists at the Red Star and Tribune engaging in selective quotation.
They do it a LOT. The American version of Izvestia to run in tendem with the NYT’s Pravda.
He stated it just fine.
I agree with him. While I’m sorry about the kids, this incident should not take away my or anyone’s rights. The only part of his statements I don’t particularly like is him telling them to go to hell but that’s his right do so. Miss Manners wouldn’t approve but he is exercising his right to free speech. Now, if he’d said that to hussein and the rest of the Hill, then even Miss Manners might let it slide.
No such thing as Bush Conservatism even though we sure hear a lot of Compassionate Republican stupidity around these parts.
Akin DID damage the pro-life movement by not being elected as a Senator. He didn’t have enough common sense to simply say that rape is a terrible crime and that rapists should get harsh sentences. And if a woman becomes pregnant as a result of rape it is her personal decision on how to proceed with the pregnancy. And then ignore any follow up questions.
The truth is they are being used-—and enjoying it.
Air Force One flights, visits to the White House, Celebrity status.
What this country needs to decide is are we going to base our laws based on the percived feelings of children or rational thinking adults?
He's never met them so he never had the chance to. But he did say that should the opportunity arrise then that's what he'd do. Before he went all mealy-mouthed with his "that's not what I really meant" and his "I'm not making light of your loss" crap.
So has he said if he's going to take them up on the offer and go to Newtown?

I am a mother of six who lives in the city of Hartford. I have lived in this city since 1974. Over the years, I have watched minority kids die constantly from gun violence in the city. Not from assault weapons, but from illegal handguns. It is true that what happened in Newtown is a tragedy and I really feel bad for the families of the victims who died there.
But a real tragedy is that every day in America, more than 85 people are shot dead. One of every 85 shot in America is under the age of 14. By 2015, death from gun violence will surpass automobile deaths. Over the past five years in the cities of Hartford, Bridgeport and New Haven, there have been more than 300 deaths as the result of gun violence.
The vast majority of these victims were not white -- they were minorities.
No one has offered the families of these victims comfort, monetary donations, flowers, counseling, free trips to the Super Bowl, baseball games played in honor of them, memorials built for them, educational trust funds set up for their siblings or anything else for that matter. No one thought that gun laws needed to be changed when these victims died.
No one cares that inner-city kids face the danger of gun violence on a daily basis and suffer the same losses as the Newtown families. No one cares that these mothers have lost their children.
Changing gun laws will not stop people from shooting people. Guns are an inanimate object and can only work with the assistance of people. Who you allow to own a gun is the real problem. Mental instability is still a huge problem in this country, and all of the mass shooters fall into this category. Most gun violence is the result of illegal handguns, not assault weapons.
There is still a huge racial gap. When little white kids are gunned down violently, it is a tragedy and we need to change gun laws because of it. When minorities are gunned down violently on a daily basis, it is OK -- nothing needs to be changed.
I listen to his show every morning. Bob gets carried away sometimes, but he is right.
Not yet... Not that I’ve heard. Wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest if he does exactly that though. Bob isn’t afraid to take the hard line when he thinks he’s right.
Makes it interesting to watch the interplay between Bob and Tom when Tom starts trying to put the soft, political, spin on what Bob flat out says.
Well if the news account is right - a big 'if' I'll grant you - then if he back-peddled any faster on this he'd pull a hammy.
When someone come up with a plan to get illegal guns out of the hands of criminals—let me know.
There are plenty of gun laws. They just aren’t obeyed.
Make more gun laws and they will not be obeyed either.
Criminals do not give a damn about laws. That is why they are criminals.
Re your post 35, I agree with your point about the implications of the man’s statements. I should have said so in my post.
“Who you allow to own a gun is the real problem.”
It’s not who is allowed to own guns from where I sit. The punishment for owning a gun when you are forbidden is basically a joke in this country.
I see that as something that is intentional, planned and controlled by the legislative leaders. The goal amongst the top progressive (communist) leaders is to abolish the 2nd A. Without the high death rates they don’t stand a chance and since the majority is blacks killing blacks we’ll that’s acceptable by the majority.
Here in CT, perps are allowed to *bargain* away the charges, are released early for time served, and there is no longer a death penalty.
I’d say, we’re pretty much on our own.
I’m anxiously awaiting the legal challenges to CT gun laws.
Both of these men, and the GOP in the future need to give a standardized answer condemning rape as a terrible crime and avoid saying what the victim should do in the event of a pregnancy other than saying that is a highly personal choice the victim must make. And then not take follow up questions and start talking about the current issues of the election.
These people want to use their loss to make it more difficult for me to protect my family. I pray for their murdered children but I pray for the children who are murdered by the hundreds of thousands in the womb each and every year. Their tragic loss does not give them the power to abridge my rights. And when people try to abridge our rights we should stand up to them. Period.
