Army could lose 100,000 soldiers due to sequestration.

Of all the military services facing budget pressure this year, the Army is in the direst of straits. The budget Congress finally passed a month ago will help matters, but the service says it's still more than $15 billion short of funds in fiscal 2013. Army senior leaders told the Senate Armed Services Committee Tuesday that the elimination of a continuing resolution and the passage of a formal budget only fixed about a third of the funding problem they face this year. The sequestration cuts that Congress left in place will force them to find $7.6 billion in savings in the next six months.

On top of that, the Army is short ..........

“...The #1 rule for bureaucrats, including military bureaucrats, is that “When budget cuts are threatened, offer to cut the meat, never the fat.”....”

Exactly!!!!!

Makes you want to go HMMMM....
My U.S. Army son was sent to Guam from Hawai’i two weeks ago. Why? To build a new basketball court for the garrison there!

Absolutely as the creatures taking over the military owe their livelihood and perks to the extreme left.

The possibility of 100,000 new recruits to the Oathkeepers sounds GOOD right about now!

Unfortunately, they aren't all necessarily of the political persuasion to join. Last week I got a call from a young man looking for tech training. As I was helping him, he mentioned he had just gotten out the AF and wanted to use the GI Bill. I thanked him for his service.

His response: "Yeah, whatever..."

Outstanding! Good duty, in a great duty station! Does he shoot hoops? If not, he will. Good stuff, TexasRedeye.

What ever happened to cutting waste? Wheres 6 Sigma when you need it!!!

It is framed, right next to your worthless "Black belt" certificate, which is on the trophy case next to the "Total Quality Management" TQM Award and the signed copy of Edward Deming's 14 Points.

Did you even read that article that you posted?

The Army is cutting these soldiers due to deep and real budget cuts, which the Republican party has been shamefully cheering on.

There isn't a "Dept of Waste and Fat" in the US military, as keyboard warriors always assume.

The US military was cut by $487 Billion over ten years starting two years ago, and that was BEFORE Sequestration, which took another &650 Billion. The military is 17% of the budget, yet is is punished with 50% of the cuts. Meanwhile, Entitlements, which are exploding our debt and deficits, are exempt from Sequestration. So you have 63% of all spending with no cuts, and the remaining 37% of spending taking 100% of the cuts. Of those cuts, the military is cut 9% across the board, every year, for 10 years. For FY13, the Operations and Maintenance budgets have been decimated because military pay and most procurement dollars cannot be touched.

The mission of the US military is dangerous, bloody, difficult, and complex. This nation expects miracles, but these days only cares about their Food Stamps (1 in 7 Americans on the EBT dole), their Social Security COLA, and their Medicare.

The most noble of American society, the military and those who serve, are punished, while the takers are rewarded.

Congratulations.

I would Thank you if your award meant something;

I am an x-automotive engineer, I have used 6-sigma (to improve production and eliminate waste) it works.
I am “x” because of 2008 layoffs and for 3 years no one hired.
I am a lowly part inspector now.
I worked as Military contractor (one company)

I am a former service member. I believe in a strong military for defense. I believe we should support our troops when they are given “thankless” tasks.

But are you implying there is no waste in Government or Military that cannot be cut (instead of benefits and troop levels)??

YES, the military is being unfairly attacked and politicized .
I do not like what is happening to our country. I do not think we can win against the enemy with PC attitudes.

The leaders now in charge are using this for political reasons. My post was "tongue in cheek"

Six Sigma is a disciplined, data-driven approach and methodology for eliminating defects.

variability is one of many.

it does change meaning within organizations, however. Thanks
