Obama: Replace 'dumb' sequester cuts with 'smarter' cuts

WASHINGTON, April 27 (UPI) -- U.S. President Barack Obama said Saturday Congress should replace "dumb" federal spending cuts before the so-called sequester "causes further damage."

In his weekly radio and Internet address, the president said the sequester -- a series of automatic, across-the-board federal spending cuts -- was a bad idea when Congress adopted it and "as the country saw this week, it's a bad idea now."

Obama said the cuts are affecting families whose children are being "kicked out of Head Start programs," and "seniors who depend on programs like Meals on Wheels to live independently."

"There are military communities -- families that have already sacrificed enough -- coping under new strains," he said. "All because of these cuts."

He noted furloughs of air traffic controllers resulted this week in flight delays with travelers "stuck for hours in airports and on planes, and rightly frustrated by it."

"And, maybe because they fly home each weekend, the Members of Congress who insisted these cuts take hold finally realized that they actually apply to them too," Obama said.

"Republicans claimed victory when the sequester first took effect, and now they've decided it was a bad idea all along," he said. "Well, first, they should look at their own budget. If the cuts they propose were applied across the board, the FAA would suffer cuts three times deeper."

"A couple weeks ago, I put forward a budget that replaces the next several years of these dumb cuts with smarter cuts; reforms our tax code to close wasteful special interest loopholes; and invests in things like education, research, and manufacturing that will create new jobs right now," Obama said.

It is the nature of Sequestration that there is absolutely no flexibility in the cuts — except when there is flexibility in the cuts.

Sequester welfare, food stamps, section 8, Medicaid (not to mention EPA, DOE, OSHA, and the rest of the useless alphabet fascist departments in Washington) - all the freeloader programs that have gotten this country into the financial mess that it’s in.

The word came down, from the top of this Current Regime squatting in the White Hut, to make the effects of any “sekester” slowdowns in spending , visible and applied in the ways most frustrating to the American public.

Low-information voters will be easily led to believe this was all the fault of:

A. Those Congressional Republicans;
B. George W. Bush;
C. Global Warming;
D. Lax gun laws throughout the US;
E. T.E.A. party activists;
F. Wall Street;
G. A combined cabal of Christians and Jews; or
H. All of the above.

The Audacity of Dope - now that’s funny! Thanks for the laugh!

I want you to imagine if a Republican president had used such crudity; “...dumb...”

Could you not hear the howls calling for his head - after insulting the mute?

There is no empathy within the resident zero - none.
Every utterance outta his mouf is tainted with scorn for others. He can’t hide it. It’s not funny, either:

You gotta love it.

It’s always the same solution with this guy-raise taxes, more spending.

It’s working sooooo well.

I’m liking sequestration more and more.

Across the board cuts that at least restrain the growth of spending. For things that are really critical (like having ATC and safely managed airspace) Congress can restore the funding on a onesie-twosie basis.

The only issue I see with this right now is that Congress isn’t hauling Dept and Agency heads up to the Hill to justify WHERE they’re choosing to make their sequestration cuts. Which seems to be in places designed to cause the most visible pain possible. Emphasis on “visible”.

They’ll reduce Meals on Wheels, except the for “paper shufflers” in the back room. The benefits may get reduced, but the Bureaucrats Are Forever.

If his purple lips are movin’, he’s lyin’. Sequester, including “dumb sequester”, was El Bozo’s idea in the first place. It’s a good thing for him that Americans are stupid.

The “smartest” sequester cut would be to de-fund anyone appointed by or supporting this fascist president, nobama. The second “smartest” sequester cut would be to evict nobama’s family and hangers-ons from the white hut.

“It is the nature of Sequestration that there is absolutely no flexibility in the cuts — except when there is flexibility in the cuts.”

If there was an opposition party it would say to the President — “Send us your proposal since you are in charge of the executive branch and therefore know where the cuts can be made.”

Obama making statements such as the one he made about the sequester is like the CEO of a company complaining to the board of directors he can’t do his job. Why don’t the Republicans call him on it?

So was it a bad idea when Der Leader thought it up?

He has a knack for saying the right things - while he absolutely does not mean it.
When he says the wrong things, then he means it.

Tossing kids out of Head Start is a good idea. It’s nothing more than a government indoctrination center anyway. Staffed with minimum wage drones that have no clue. Except, of course, for the Executive Director who pulls down big $$.
