After days of tough talk from the White House regarding Syria's use of chemical weapons, State Department spokesman Patrick Ventrell emerged on April 26 to say no action will be taken against the country based on "intelligence assessments" until the administration can "corroborate the facts."
He said, despite reports announcing intelligence assessments that show chemical weapons have been used--even the assessments released by the State Department on April 25--there is not enough evidence to act.
A reporter ... asked Ventrell: "... why make it public?"
Ventrell said it was, "an administrative decision to respond in a public fashion." He then reminded the questioner that, "intelligence assessments when it comes to WMD" have been questionable in the past.
And Ventrell wouldn't even confirm that the U.S. will act against Syria .......

He went from being our loose cannon to theirs...
Assad has nothing to worry about from Lil Barry Sweetpants - unless of course he forbids free condoms, same sex marriage, 24 week baby murder, fisting, queercentric government employment policy - then Mr. Harrison J. Bounel will be on them like white on rice
Concur about that coward in the White House wanting to destroy America.
Differ about Nixon. He did far less and was hounded from office. Would likely have been impeached because key Republican Representatives abandoned him. But the only two Presidents to have been impeached are Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton, both of whom were acquitted.
As far as I am concerned, Clinton's acquittal was a betrayal of the Constitution. And Obama should long since have been impeached and removed.
They have to get their lies straight.
I’m with the others. STAY OUT OF SYRIA. We have NOTHING TO GAIN. I’m sorry if nasty weapons are used on the rebels, but they chose to fight a ruthless guy and they knew what could happen to them.
We’ve got North Korea to worry about and they very well may have nukes taking out our cities by the end of the year. I just don’t see Syria as being that big of a threat to us.

“We aren’t sure if they did it, but we don’t want them to do it again....”
Something like 70,000 people have died there since the revolt started. I guess if they died with by a bullet, a rock that’s ok. No red line crossed with a sword in the back.
I hope the Syrian government DID use them against those knuckledragging jihadis. If/when they take power there, they’ll be far worse than Assad could ever hope to be.
I totally agree. Syria is NOT our fight.
Ditto. Not a single drop of any more American blood for fecking muslims.
Really? Un-FReeping-believable.
They did! They didn’t! They did! Wait, we can’t blame this on Bush... They didn’t!!!
If Assad Pest Control, Inc. is spraying for roaches and other pests, he is doing us a favor...
It really is none of our business.
The so-called “rebels” are Salafist terror groups.
If Assad sprays a little pest control, he is really doing us a favor.
So true. My curiosity is in regards to all the weapons we’ve given the ‘rebels’ - maybe barry doesn’t want to see his investment go to waste.
But I agree, no way is he going to continue the history of America being strong, his satanic need to cripple us is out in the open.
If CW are used against the al-Qaida-backed jihadi swine, coming from foreign lands to install a far more hardcore radical regime to replace Assad, how is that “unFReepingbelievable?”
There is good reason to be skeptical: whether the Syrian government or whether the rebels have used chemical weapons is the real issue. It would not be good at all for the U.S. if it is discovered later that the U.S. supported rebels captured stores of chemical weapons, then used them and attempted to blame their use on the Assad government.
Biological and chemical weapons are indiscriminate by their nature. The potential for killing non combatants is very high with their use.
