There's a big difference in city layout ~ Chicago is not as flat as it seems ~ you get on the streets in the neighborhoods and you find these divedowns under a railroad track. There are guys there ~

Nashville has wider right of way in the neighborhoods. Just a little bit of openness goes a long way toward driving street crime into automobiles

We took our boys on a 'let's drive through Chi-town' trip several years back. They wanted to get down on the floor ~ the place is intimidating.

Still, in between all the really nasty looking places there are some great neighborhoods with nice folks in them ~ postal workers even. What you need to drive around safely at night is a van with several white people in the back ~ that's interpreted as COPS

i knew you always had a soft spot for mail men.

surely i must not be the only one who thought, when a kid, that the fellow on the lipton tea packaging was a mail man, and that the tea was supposed to be so good that the mail man would stop in to share a cup before continuing on his way...
