Was Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad arrested by the Revolutionary Guard?

Reports have claimed that the Iranian President was arrested this week and warned against releasing information which could prove damaging to the country's Islamic regime.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was allegedly held for seven hours by the Revolutionary Guard on Monday and told to back down with claims that the regime defrauded voters at the last general election and allegations of fraud against political rivals.

According to WND.com, the President was returning from a book fair in Tehran when his security advisor was informed that he was requested to appear at the Supreme Leader Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Hosseini Khamenei's office on an urgent matter.

But three other cars are said to have joined the President's convoy and contact was lost between him and his security vehicles.

Instead of being taken to the Supreme Leader's office, he was reportedly taken to a secret Foreign Ministry office where he and his security team were disarmed and stripped of communications equipment.

A source told WND that Ahmadinejad was then forced to enter an office belonging to Hossein Taeb, the head of the Revolutionary Guards’ intelligence, while many of his associates across Tehran were questioned over the existence of alleged documents that would allegedly prove damaging to the country's regime.

He was later released following questioning.

“Or the Revolutionary Guard is in control.”

The Soviet government maintained several army’s in Moscow reporting to different sections of the government. This was to prevent one directorate from arresting and killing another directorate. It wasn’t a government so much as an encampment run by competing interests. Iran appears to be much the same. China is definitely the same, with power vested in several red generals. The actual president of China is only the public face of the government. He’s mostly like a homeowner’s association president. He has no nuclear weapons and no real forces at his instant command.

One reason for Iran’s focus on Israel is if they didn’t focus outward on a foreign enemy, they’d tear themselves apart. If Ahmadinejad was arrested, warned and turned lose, then he has been forewarned that his personal situation is deteriorating and it may provoke him into moving even quicker to eliminate or damage the opposition for his own safety.

I’d like to see this in the US. Wish someone had the *&^%$ to arrest criminal politicians here.

Probably coming out of the closet as the first gay President of Iran. It’s historical, and the mullahs just aren’t hip enough to “get it.”

I read that a portion of the Soviet nuclear arsenal was dedicated to potential use inside the USSR. Later, after the collapse and emergence of the Russian Federation, Putin said a similar policy was in place.

We’ll see how it [plays out. There was a thread a few days ago concerning the power of the Rev Guard. It was surmised that they might take control, or may have already.

I’ve heard the rumors of his being detained & questioned. It’s certainly possible.
There have also been stories about a military takeover by the IRGC - some are supposedly more loyal to Ahmadinejad than Khamenei.
Here’s a link to more background info on Ahmadinejad’s ‘secret tape’.

Apropos of nothing, anyone else familiar with the purge of Röhm and the SD?

Hossein Taeb - Former Basij Cmdr, now IRGC Cmdr - Rapist of Kahrizak Prison - 1391
from Naiz 10 months ago
http://vimeo.com/43877775
This video (part one) details the criminal, animalistic acts of Hossein Taeb and gives personal, first-person accounts of what happened at Kahrizak Prison during the Iranian uprising of 1391. He is a criminal - a brutal rapist and murderer - different only from Joseph Kony in that his story has not been widely told - that must be held accountable for his actions and his orders against helpless, peaceful Iranians and against all of humanity.
