Marco Rubio: The Immigration Reform Opportunity
The Wall Street Journal ^ | May 2, 2013 | Marco Rubio

Posted on 05/03/2013 9:17:43 AM PDT by EveningStar

Next week, the Senate will begin making changes to and, hopefully, improve the immigration-reform legislation I introduced with several colleagues last month. This part of the process is a chance to fix America's broken immigration system and end today's de facto amnesty for those who live here illegally. It will also show that Washington can work when leaders listen to the American people and invoke their wisdom in debates and legislative work.

In January, I outlined my principles for conservative immigration reform in these pages—principles that guided the drafting of this legislation. These include securing the borders; requiring all employers to verify their workers' eligibility and severely penalizing them if they hire illegal immigrants; cracking down on legal immigrants who overstay visas; and modernizing the legal immigration system to meet America's 21st-century economic needs for both highly skilled talent and guest workers to fill labor shortages.

We have the opportunity to institute common sense, comprehensive immigration reform by copying
Mexican Immigration Laws.

Rush has spent a lot of time defending Rubio over this bill.

Interesting.

I got a call from the RNC yesterday for a donation. They informed me of all the good things the Republicans are doing and never said a word about immigration.

I told them they also have Rubio pushing for amnesty and that they'll not br getting anymore support from me, I suggested they contact the open borders and gay lobbys for donations instead...Good luck with that.

McCain and the other Democrats played Marco like a fiddle. Good thing we found out how easily influenced his is now rather than later. He’s a bit of a lightweight.

Really the only thing “broken” about our Immigration Policy is that it’s underlying laws are never enforced. They are just chrome plating another legislative turd right now.

If the bill language takes more than 1 printed page it is just another Beltway Screw Job.

Rush has spent a lot of time defending Rubio over this bill.
He's defending (apologizing for his friend) Rubio as a true conservative and is saying Rubio's plan is a grand scheme to blow up in the faces of Democrats.

Hey Rush, the next time you see a picture of Schumer with Rubio, the only fool in that picture with egg on his face is Rubio...and the GOP.

Exactly!

So why would any sane person think that the same crooked politicians and bureaucrats who do not currenty enforce immigration laws they don't like will suddenly become honorable and ethical and enforce new immigration laws that they don't like?

Ding, ding, ding, we have a winner! And what makes it worse is that the RINO/RAT Cabal is in charge! Can you just imagine what a McLame Presidency would have been like? I shudder when I contemplate it! The man is mentally deranged.

At least he coulda been honest and just said “I support Amnesty for Illegals and Terrorists”

Conservatives are now winning the issue...as La Raza Rubio again is groveling before pro-Amnesty media

I took on this difficult issue, despite the political risk it entails, because fixing immigration is essential for the nation's security, is good for job creation and has always helped separate America from the rest of the world. What we have now is a disaster. It threatens our security, sovereignty and economy.

This paragraph is exactly correct. The immigration problem must be solved now and it must be solved so that it doesn't happen again.

That is not possible without a totally secure border.

“Rush has spent a lot of time defending Rubio over this bill.

Just saying.”

No he has not. Quit lying. Rush has strongly opposed the bill while saying Rubio is his friend.

Same as Levin. No one has ripped the bill to shreds more than Levin, nor criticized Rubio for it, more than Levin and Rush.

Yet they both consider Rubio a friend (for whatever reason).

Why are you lying about El Rushbo?

Here it is in one meaningful sentence:
"It offers them an opportunity for legalization and, potentially, permanent residence and citizenship". - tom

I listen to Rush every single day, via podcast. I never heard Rush say anything remotely like what you are describing.

I have heard Rush criticize the bill in no uncertain terms.

What day did you allegedly hear Rush say this?

“Rush is just hispandering. “

Rush is completely, vocally opposed to this bill. If you listened to Rush, you would know this.

But you obviously don’t so you believe any old lie that comes your way. And end up looking like an idiot.

Attn: Rubio & the Gang of Seven (8), read my lips. Priority number one is tight, effective, border security. this committee act is bogus!!! Real, immediate, effective, no questions asked tight border security, right now!!! No illegal immigrant, man or woman should even be given a path to citizenship or the right to vote in any USA election, period. They should be given permanent guest worker vouchers and be made to pay all USA taxes, etc. Their children, born in the USA are USA citizens and they should be given full USA citizenshhip rights. Any Senator, Democrat Or Republican or Independent that votes otherwise will never get my vote (the ones in the state where I reside). I repeat...no illegal alien should ever have the right or opportunity to become a USA citizen or be able to vote In any USA election. End of story!!! They have for many years kept legal immigrants from the opportunity of coming to the USA!!! They should not be rewarded, only given alien work permits!!!
