Speaking of former pols moving to new states, do you remember how Bob Smith ran for the Senate in Florida (he eventually dropped out)?
Guess who filed for Allen West’s former congressional seat? Alan Schlesinger, the desultory 2006 GOP nominee against Joe Lieberman.
Interesting phenomenon, pols who lose or retire leaving their states. Where was it that Peter Fitzgerald went, Pennsylvania?
Wasn’t their a Congressman a few decades ago that lost and was later elected from another state? Never mind I remember, Ed Foreman, Texas and New Mexico.
Bob Smith’s run in FL was never regarded as anything other than a joke. As for the joke who was the beneficiary of voter fraud in FL, even with Col. West not seeking a rematch, he’s likely to face a serious challenger, probably from the legislature (and it won’t be Schlesinger).
Fitzgerald probably lives in Northern Virginia, as that is where he serves as chairman of a local bank.
