Rush Limbaugh may leave Cumulus
Politico ^ | 5/5/13 8:42 PM EDT | DYLAN BYERS

Posted on 05/06/2013 7:43:24 PM PDT by TBP

The Rush Limbaugh Program is considering ending its affiliation agreement with Cumulus Media at the end of this year, a move that would bring about one of the biggest shakeups in talk radio history, a source close to the show tells POLITICO.

Should the move take place, 40 Cumulus-owned radio stations would lose the rights to the most popular talk radio program in the country. In addition, the show might be picked up by competing regional radio stations in Washington, New York, Chicago, Dallas and other major markets.

According to the source, Limbaugh is considering the move because Cumulus CEO Lew Dickey has blamed the company's advertising losses on Limbaugh's controversial remarks about Sandra Fluke, the Georgetown law student. In Feb. 2012, Limbaugh referred to Fluke as "a slut" because she had called on congress to mandate insurance coverage of birth control. The subsequent controversy over those remarks resulted in a significant advertising boycott.

Of course, Politico doesn't bother to mention all the new sponsors, plus the sponsorship of other talk shows by some of the sponsors who have left Rush.

This could shake up radio in several major markets. I wonder where he'd land in DC if not WMAL.

You know what I think? Ole Lew should read up on what happened to SLEEP TRAIN.

That’s what I think.

Rush is intensely loyal to his folks —overpays them, babies them, cuddles them.

He’s nice.

You know what? That’s a TWO WAY street, and try THIS on:

Lew is in for a really good lesson on loyalty, I think.

“POUR ENCOURAGER LES AUTRES”, Lew.

Lew Dickey is a fool.
WBAP has been sliding since Cumulus took over, They are not sliding because of Limbaugh.

This reminds me of the story of the waiter who was rude to Howard Hughes.

According to legend, Howard Hughes bought the restaurant just so he could fire him.

The Sandra Fluke thing was hilarious. I was cleaning the kitchen when he was going off and it cracked me up so hard.

I hope Rush doesn’t have to leave CBM here. I’d rather he be on the real conservative station, but he’d probably be back to MSM station BAL if CBM had to drop.

Rush will survive despite Cumulus.

He’s played the circuit here in the bay area over the years.. never forget the day I turned on ksfo and Huckanbee was on,,

He should just start his own network. The Rush
Network .. Time stands still until you hit play... he always has his tea drink business to fall back on.

Carbonite was one of the first to leave Rush, and then almost begged to go back. I tossed them and was happy to do so.

Where Rush goes, that’s where I’ll go. If WABC drops him, it will be their their loss— as they’ll soon find out.

It’s not that WABC or WMAL or the other Cumulus stations would drop Rush. It sounds more like a case of Rush possibly dropping them.

I think this is maneuvering before new contract negotiation.
Both parties are making calculated move.

I called Carbonite that Monday AM. Got a clueless girl answering the Customer service line...told her I hoped she did not lose her job because her Corp. boss was an a hole. I bet she did lose her job, poor thing.

All this is much ado about nothing.
The libs are spinning this hard to make it look like Right Wing Talk radio is on the decline and AM is dead.

But there is no alternate liberal media on the rise.
Oh they spout about twitter, but twitter is not entertaining, it is more like electronic gossip and we have usurped them there as well.

Free Republic, Hot Air, Captains Quarters....
Cable News.

We are not on the wane.
They are.

I ordered some, then demanded a refund, after eating them (very over rated in the first place....Rush better without them)
