Jay Carney accuses GOP of ‘politicizing’ Benghazi in disastrous WH presser

by Francesca Chambers and Katie LaPotin

Jay Carney WH Press secretary angry White House Press Secretary Jay Carney came under fire on Friday for the Obama administration’s mishandling of the terrorist attack in Libya last year.

In a disastrous press briefing that further called into question the veracity of the administration’s claims about what it knew about the attack on the U.S. consulate in Libya last year vs. what it told the public, Carney accused Congressional Republicans of politicizing the Benghazi scandal and denied that the White House had anything to do with the changes that were made to U.S. ambassador to the U.N. Susan Rice’s talking points on Benghazi.

“There is the discussion about, you know, the Republicans again, and this ongoing effort that began hours of the attacks when Mitt Romney put out a press release to try to take political advantage out of these deaths, or out of the attack in Benghazi, and, in a move that was maligned even by members of his own party,” Carney said during the briefing. “And from that day forward, there has been this effort to politicize it.”

He also argued that the 12 revisions made to the Benghazi talking points, as reported by ABC News earlier Friday, were not substantive – adding, however, that his previous claim that they were merely “stylistic” was not the best way to describe the changes. He contended that the WH requested that only a few words be changed such as the word “consultate,” which was modified to “diplomatic facility.”

“There was a process leading up to that from a variety of agencies, as is always the case and is always appropriate,” Carney said.”The overriding concern of everyone involved is that we’re not giving to people who speak in public information that can’t be confirmed.”

“The concern was the points not provide information that was speculative,” he added.

Barack Obama Meanwhile, President Obama tried to distract the mainstream media from Benghazi by holding a White House rally over the so-called benefits of his Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, a.k.a. Obamacare, at which he once again accused Republicans of spreading “misinformation” about his healthcare reform bill.

“Obviously, there is still a lot of political bickering over this law,” Obama said during the rally. ” The same folks who fought tooth and nail four years ago and tried to make political hay out of Obamacare, they’re still telling tall tales about its impact.”

Obama’s healthcare event – which was perhaps uncoincidentally announced this morning after ABC aired its story on the leaked emails – didn’t do much to distract reporters from the Benghazi scandal, however. The White House Press Secretary was bombarded with questions about Benghazi and the IRS’s admission today that it purposefully targeted conservative organizations for more thorough document reviews last year.

The procession of Carney’s press conference today was a complete and utter train wreck, as he only made the controversy surrounding a potential cover-up of Benghazi by the White House even bigger.

To make matters worse, Carney pushed back his daily press briefing twice Friday in order to hold an off-the-record briefing with reporters on Benghazi that was accidentally leaked to POLITICO. The off-the-record briefing became an added source of conflict between Carney and the members of the White House Press Corps that were not invited to the meeting during Carney’s daily, public briefing. And just as the briefing concluded, The Blaze reported that an attorney for one of the Benghazi whistleblowers who testified earlier this week has additional whistleblowers on hand who want to come forward and testify as well.

The White House is undoubtedly thanking God it’s Friday right now.

“I wonder what the POS calls the White House’s handling of the Sandy Hook School shooting.”

Bloody wonderful.

It must be even worse than we could imagine if Obutthead is out poking us in the eye with the barbed stick of the unpopular obamacare and that is their best strategy to deal with the growing pile of steaming crap.

Jay Carney has a name to fit his profession:

A Carny...The carny vocabulary is traditionally part of carnival cant, a secret language, and is an ever-changing form of communication, in large part designed to be impossible to understand by an outsider.[2] Thus, as words are assimilated into the culture at large, they lose their function and are replaced by other more obscure or insular terms.[citation needed] Most carnies no longer use cant. However, many owners/operators and “old-timers” still use some of the classic terms. **got from Wiki

americans died and we were given false reasons for it.

a freaking ambassador died. this is the guy who can speak for the president.

we could also accuse the democrats of politicizing it by being totally silent and covering this crap up. you’re not going to get awaywith the coverup and somehow that’s politicizing it?

sick bastards.

“I read only 14 reporters were invited to the secret meeting. Sounds like a strategy session to me.”

...and I have also read that a lot of reporters are damn mad about it. Liberal reporters. I really do think that the cracks are starting to appear.

“Like somebody on FR said of Jay Carney a while back, “He reminds me of the kid in gym class who always got ‘pants’.”

I was thinking more in terms of an atomic wedgie.

Its sad that he is that stupid.

JimRob,

I don’t think that Jay is smart enough to be a useful idiot.

Just my humble opinion.

Jay and Bagdad Bod are two peas in a pod.

LOL.

Oh, its very bad, evil in fact. But will Americans in a majority acknowledge that what these anti-American bastards have done is put their political captial far above (read more valuable) the lives of Americans serving We The People? I mean, the media is trying their evil best to make this something other than political sonofabitches endorsing the slaughter of Americans in whatever numbers in order to cover for their political ambitions? And the likelihood is, the media will be successful in diverting from the truth of what this means.

What are the media but the fifth column enemy of the people, when a pResident tells the designed/designated rescuers to stand down and let the moose slimes murder as many as they can AND the media work their scurrilous butts off spinning that into something else, something benign?

The enemy of We The People is runniing the federal government! And these bastards don't care how many Americans are slaughtered if the democrips remain in power.

If a gaggle of reporters were standing around in a bar and someone walked in, pulled a pistol, and shot two or five customers slowly and methodically, and the reporters gave statements to the investigating police that the dead people were accidentally shot when the murderer tried to shoot a picture ont he wall, would the reporters be at the very least obstructing justice? Wouldn't they actually be accessories after the fact? Useless vermin

The lying and advancement of political considerations ahead of saving American heroes are what politicized it!

He will be totally useless if the fingers snap in ABC, CBS, and who knows, they may not hold out NBC, to set forth the attack dogs.
The WH Press briefings may come to an abrupt halt.
Surely at this point as all those doe eyed ants within that press corps. read all the stuff that has come out of just the Fox network alone, now know this is the largest clever cover up of recent times in America.
Even PBS is providing very short pieces on Benghazi over the past few days. They hide it pretty well but are noting a few statements.
I was quite surprised to say the least.
The usurper may wish he was Nixon before this is all done. :)
