Benghazi whistle-blower a Democrat, voted for Hillary and Obama twice

Caroline May

A key Benghazi whistle-blower who has allegedly been punished for speaking out against the administration is a registered Democrat who voted for both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.

The lawyer of Gregory Hicks, the former U.S. deputy chief of mission in Libya who testified before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Wednesday, confirmed the information to The Daily Caller on Saturday.

According to the lawyer, Victoria Toensing, Hicks voted for Clinton during the 2008 primary, and for then-Illinois Sen. Obama in the 2008 general election. He again voted for Obama in 2012.

“The fact is he is a registered Democrat in Virginia. The fact is he voted for Hilary in the primary and Obama and then again for Obama,” Toensing said.

Toensing added that she did not know he was a Democrat until the day before the hearing.

“I’m not interested in that,” she said. “I’m interested in government not abusing its powers.”

Hicks testified before the House Oversight Committee this week regarding the events that took place on Sept. 11, 2012 in Benghazi and recalled how the State Department told him not to cooperate with the congressional investigation into the events, which led to the deaths of four Americans.

Hicks further testified that he has been demoted since Benghazi.

“The job now is a significant … it’s a demotion,” Hicks said before the committee. “Foreign-affairs officer is a designation that is given to our civil service colleagues who are desk officers. So I’ve been effectively demoted from deputy chief of mission to desk officer.”

The State Department has denied the demotion, saying that Hicks decided to end his assignment in Libya early.

“The Department has not and will not retaliate against Mr. Hicks,” Acting Deputy State Department spokesperson Patrick Ventrell said during a Thursday press briefing. “As he testified yesterday, he decided to shorten his assignment in Libya following the attacks, in part due to understandable family reasons, and that he has followed standard employment processes.”

According to Toensing, however, the administration is simply lying.

“The State Department is lying — saying he was not demoted. It is almost impossible under law for them to take away anybody’s salary. But they demoted him to a job where he has no meaningful work,” she said. “He had a choice between no job whatsoever and a job that didn’t have any meaningful work. And I say this is like telling a starving man he can have no food or he can have the rotten beef. And if he chooses the rotten beef, is that a choice?”

Yes agreed.

This country is no longer producing the human resources it needs to continue in a positive direction.

We seem to be producing morons, drones, slaves, liars and tyrants.

Thanks for that info. Yeah, Rice was on the talk shows 9-16 wasn’t it? Sure took Hicks a while to put it all together. Democrats, I’ll never understand them.

I think there is an old saying that a conservative is a liberal that has been mugged or robbed.

It is hard to understand how he could have voted for Obama after Benghazi.

Well he is Democrat. He may have very well voted TWICE the first time around.

I’m a little skeptical of this account. How does Toensing know who he voted for, unless he told her? And why would he tell her, or why would she ask — simply so an article like this can be written?

Some people learn when they stick their hand in the fire, some don’t.

I think this fire will teach some Dems realith from lies. Hopefully more than a few.

They may choose/see the right side of the line on this matter but they will probably stay stay on the left side as to politics.

Do you think he would retain a lawyer who lied about his political affiliation and voting record? Or that he would retain a lawyer who revealed his political affiliation and voting record without his express permission?

Maybe, maybe not. I used to be a very hardcore leftist/coomie brat, but when I was very young. But I was hardcore. So I figure anyone can change. It is harder when a person has his whole life arranged and everything; but what happened in Benghazi and afterwards is pretty powerful stuff and could change a person’s entire outlook on life.

I can/do hope for change in people but taking that 50+or- % of the population will probably take some doing and time as there are much more important things in their lives.

It’s easy enough to find out how you’re registered, and legal too. But not how you voted. I’m thinking that the author of the article is making things up or misquoting. I can’t see any reason for Hicks to tell Toensing who he voted for, or for Toesning to tell the author of this article.

I’d want to hear it directly from him — this article is “she said that he said”.

It’s not really 50% of the population that needs to wake up. First of all, way less than 100% of the population votes, only those over 18 (that is the voting age, right?). Now, what percentage of those over 18 vote? So even a much smaller fraction of the literate, voting population need to wake up.

(Plus the massive election fraud makes it look as though there are more braindead leftist voters than there realy are.)

How obama treats his 'friends' sorta makes one wonder how he treats his 'enemies'.

Anyone wanting on or off this ping list, please advise.

When somone has retained an attorney, and is in a very difficult situation as is Hicks, his lawyer doesn’t say squat about him without his express permission, or he’ll be getting a new lawyer next week.

Or, you can find his email address and ask him. Or email the writer of the article. I don’t see any reason to dooubt the article, unelss the writer made it up.

Toensing is a fine lawyer. She was there during the whole Clinton mess helping out our side. People who get caught in these wicked events, often will say: “And I voted for the guy!” I’m sure Hicks has revealed his party affiliation and votes to many people. Dems do tend to brag about who they voted for.

I am wondering why this article even exists. Did the writer call Toensing and ask who Hicks voted for, hoping that Hicks would turn out to be an evil, partisan, extreme (of course), witch-hunting Republican? I say that would have been the only reason even to consider writing this article.

It certainly sounds like this article was not Toensing’s idea:

“Toensing added that she did not know he was a Democrat until the day before the hearing. “I’m not interested in that,” she said.”

I have to imagine that every little thing is a big deal at that level, because I would instruct my lawyer to just hang up on that kind of question.
