At least nine people have been killed in a car bomb explosion near a hospital in the Libyan city of Benghazi, an official has told the BBC.
"I saw people running and some of them were collecting parts of bodies," a witness said.
This follows a string of bombings in the eastern city in recent days.
Security remains precarious in Libya since the uprising against long-time leader Muammar Gaddafi, with protests by militias and attacks by Islamists.
At the end of April, a car bomb exploded outside the French embassy in the capital, Tripoli, wounding two French guards and several residents.
Defence ministry official Saleh al-Bargathi says at least 17 people were wounded in the Benghazi car bombing.
Two of the dead were children, he said.

Reminds me of the 1980s media dilema of how to spell this guy’s name and how to say it. Big discussion and hoopla.

To me most of it is funny. The most hilarious one is how our darling little on-air media reporterettes say “Niger”.
When I was a boy, I learned how to say Niger as Nigh-Jer....pretty simple, huh.
Today these idiots have to say “Nigh Jeer” because they are DEATHLY afraid one of their little reporterettes (and those male reporters who sometimes dress up like reporterettes) will eff up and accidently say the N-word on-air....funny as hell...

There’s talk that jihadis are operating out of hospitals nowadays. The one Stevens ‘went’ to is rumored to be one.
Gee ... that place doesn’t seem safe. If we’ve got people over there we might want to take some extra precautions.
