Obama on Benghazi: 'There's No There There'

At a press conference today at the White House, President Obama said "There's no there there" on criticism of how his administration handled the Benghazi terror attack:

"And suddenly three days ago this gets spun up as if there's something new to the story," Obama said in response to a question about Benghazi. "There's no there there."

The president continued, "Keep in mind by the way these so-called talking points that were prepared for Susan Rice, five, six days after the event occurred, pretty much matched the assessments that I was receiving at that time in my presidential daily briefing."

If he immediately called it a terrorist attack. Why all the discussion of a Youtube video? Why did he address the UN 9 days after, still talking about a meaningless Youtube video?

In seeing the entire Dem machine pushing back saying ‘nothing new’ that they know there is plenty new here, and that it contradicts their earlier positions. If there was nothing there, they would back off and let it go away.

That's an old saying that originated, I believe, with Gertrude Stein talking about Oakland. It was kind of clever when she used it; it's just covering up more lies when B.O. uses it.

IIRC in the debates with Romney, obama said he called it a terrorist attack the next morning....and he had Candy crowley,verify it...remember he told her to look it up... so either he was lying then or lying about the video tape, that his intelligence was giving him...Hillary and him made a 40 k video to play to the muslim buddies in pakistan or some where that they have nothing to do with the vido...

He of course made no such claim. He merely while blathering on about it as something other than a terrorist attack stated that any terrorist attacks (implied: that might occur) would be handled appropriately.

Most of the attention is currently being focused on the “talking points”, who changed them, and why. While these questions are important, I fear that other equally important questions are being pushed to the background, among them, the question of who ordered the military to stand down, and why. Aso, where was Obama during the evening of the attack, and why wasn't he actively engaged in the events unfolding in Benghazi? Once the talking points controversy has been put to rest, the low information voters will consider the Benghazi scandal as settled.

They’ve used it for fundraising,” he said, targeting Republicans for trying to gin up a controversy out of thin air.

“There’s no there there,” he said, pointing out that the emails cited in Friday’s report about the talking points being altered 12 times had been given to Congress months ago to review.

Obama said lawmakers concluded there was “nothing afoul” in the process to create the “so-called talking points.”

Well, Hillary had said that she has better things to do on a Sunday than go on the Sunday news shows. And the MSM lapped it up as if that explains everything.

And Hillary told the congressional committee “what difference does it make”, and the MSM lapped it up as if that explained things.

If we had any semblance of a free press, a media not in bed with Democrats, news stories would be covered very differently.
