RNC Chairman calls for Holder resignation
Washington Examiner ^ | May 14, 2013 | Susan Ferrechio

Posted on 05/14/2013 10:16:10 AM PDT by Uncle Miltie

RNC Chairman Reince Priebus believes Attorney General Eric Holder should resign for tapping the phones of the Associated Press, calling the move a violation of the First Amendment. Here is his statement:

“Freedom of the press is an essential right in a free society. The First Amendment doesn’t request the federal government to respect it; it demands it. Attorney General Eric Holder, in permitting the Justice Department to issue secret subpoenas to spy on Associated Press reporters, has trampled on the First Amendment and failed in his sworn duty to uphold the Constitution. Because Attorney General Holder has so egregiously violated the public trust, the president should ask for his immediate resignation. If President Obama does not, the message will be unmistakable: The President of the United States believes his administration is above the Constitution and does not respect the role of a free press.”

No calls for resignation for fast and furious, benghazi, irs but let them tap the media’s phones and now he is outraged?

My concerns exactly! See my post just above yours.

Not just resignation, but trials for treason as a traitor and enabler of crimes committed by "Holder's people" and terrorists etc.

All Holder has to do is to explain that the AP had accidentally hired some young, idealistic reporters who had the nerve to try and be objective in their reporting. All liberals will completely understand and agree that something drastic needed to be done to deal with that threat to the Obama administration.

How about “demands” rather than “calls for”.

Words mean things.

Rush said Holder claims he recused himself from the press investigation. Despite that claim, it means he knew about it, and let it go on. Why Holder thinks he can be excused from being involved is beyond me, but then when you’re a member of the King’s court, you can get away with murder.

Recusal is an admission of guilt.

Holder was involved in depriving the AP of their First Amendment rights.

The man must resign AND be prosecuted.

Congress is empowered to impeach and remove from office cabinet officers, though it has only impeached one of them, president Grant’s Secretary of War, William W. Belknap. He resigned on the same day as his impeachment, so was not convicted by the senate.

If the Republicans regain control of the senate, they would still have to persuade enough Democrat senators to vote to have the 2/3rds majority to remove Holder from office.

If Holder can't produce a warrant for those AP wiretaps, he is toast.

Eric Holder is as hard to dislodge as a leech or a woodtick, and much more of a blood-sucker than either of those other two lower forms of life.
